They are extra deep at every position. Farmar is pretty damn good. How is Sun Yue doing? From the first 2 preseason games I've seen, he looked scared less on the court.
I admit before the pre-season started I was skeptical of how it would all play out. But now that we are here at the end of pre-season about to start the season I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed and exciting about the potential this team has. Furthermore I don't see any team in the league outside of the Celtics and Rockets who have the depth needed to keep up with the Lakers.
The Lakers will be able to keep the foot on the gas for a full 48 minutes. Their 2nd unit is quite capable of going toe-to-toe against most starting 5's in the NBA. Teams that fall behind in the first quarter will not even know what hit them in the 2nd quarter, and by the time the 3rd quarter is over, they will be wondering who DJ Mbenga, Sun Yue, and Coby Karl are and why are they the crowd favorites during the garbage time.
I've seen enough. This team is competing for rings now and for the next 3-5 years easily. The Lakers are about to kick off another dynasty, enjoy the show.

No.
Jordan Farmar
Sasha Vujacic
Lamar Odom
Luke Walton
Vladimir Radmanovic
Chris Mihm
DJ Mbenga
= 20 win NBA team
I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.
Jordan Farmar
Sasha Vujacic
Trevor Ariza
Lamar Odom
Chris Mihm
I agree, likely a 20-30 win NBA team. But that's my point. They are good enough to be a 20-30 win NBA team. How many 2nd units can you say that about?
A team with Lamar Odom as your star player will win you 10 games, at best. Give me a break.
Sergio Rodriquez
Rudy Fernandez
Travis Outlaw
Channing Frye
Joel Przybilla
Checkmate
Goran Dragic
Leandro Barbosa
Grant Hill
Boris Diaw
Robin Lopez
That team would kill LA's second unit, though Portland's would be a challenge.
And we got Jerryd Bayless and Ike Diogu backing those guys up!
Farmar > Rodriguez
Sasha < Rudy
Ariza < Outlaw
Odom > Frye
Mihm < Pryz.
So I would give the Blazers an edge on that, but I still think we are the deeper team with Luke, Powell, and Mbenga.
thats not what you said. you said against most starting 5.
plus
Brandon Bass>>>NBA
so we have the best bench in the league period
Once Manu comes back, he will single-handedly wreak havoc on your 2nd unit.
Case closed.
Top dozen teams in the league, maybe more.
During preseson, I've seen a very intriguing "2nd unit" for the Lakers that should be quite bad-ass. Phil likes to leave 1-2 starters in with the 2nd unit:
Farmar
Sasha
Ariza
Odom
Bynum
And this was a carryover from last year:
Farmar
Sasha
Kobe
Luke
Bynum
I'm digging this defensive lineup:
Farmar
Kobe
Ariza
Pau
Bynum
I don't think we've seen it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if Phil uses this one to close out games when we have the lead.
Injury to kobe and team doesnt make playoffs
i have been impressed as well. i remember chatting with allanon about how bynum and gasol looked a little off, but that was the 2nd preseason game (i think).
since then ive been impressed as well. defensively and offensively they look good. we'll see if this laker group take advantage of their situation.
Lakers suck. Watch their overinflated egos implode this season with Kobe calling out Bynum again and throwing him under the bus. Good Times!![]()
We don't have any room to talk with Artest on our squad.
Blah, blah, blah.
I'm still failing to see why any Western Conference team other than the Spurs has what it takes to win the championship. Kobe can't win a championship without Shaq, and Bynum is no Shaq.
laker fans just keep quiet. all these other fans KNOW how scary the lakers are and deep down inside they know themselves that the lakers will be the best team in the league this year. Watch for Farmar and Ariza. they looked like they owned the court every time they were out there in the preseason.
They look great coming off the bench. I was real skeptical of Farmar, but he has been proving me wrong this pre season.
