Nice damage control by RC after Pop scoffed Mahinimi in training camp about being injured yet again. Good decision to pick up the option. Hopefully Pop gives him a shot at some point in the season. I'd be all for giving Mahinmi a handful of starts just so he can get his feet wet and for the Spurs to better figure out exactly how good he is.

The spurs are really in desperate straights for a guy who can be a presence in the paint, and he has the tools to be that guy. I'm hoping as he matures and keeps growing bigger and stronger his body will be able to withstand the rigors of the NBA, and hopefully become part of the spurs rotation by the end of the year.

I still believe it'd be smart of the Spurs to have another "project" big in the pipeline - whether Ian doesn't work out and even if he does.

I really don't think this says much about the Spurs thoughts on Mahinmi. This is an extremely cheap option, and the only way they wouldn't pick it up is if Ian was an absolute flop, which obviously he hasn't been. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that they picked up this option, but what they truly think about Mahinmi and his development will be better seen via his playing time when he returns.

If he was good, believe you me, he would already been starting. He's just not that good. And its not like the guys ahead of him are all-star players. Give me a break with Ian. Hes a waste of time.

So far, Ian Mahinmi has been like our own Greg Oden...

    ...you know...without the potential.

Ian seems to be somewhat spastic and clumsy. I don't see the motors in him to be an active player. He doesn't really have much of skills to play power-forward. He is not strong engough to play center. Maybe injury prone. I don't have much hopes for him.

Have you watched him play a game? I mean either live or on tv, d-league or NBA?

Isn't that what most of your posts are?

If you're always like this why are you even watching the Spurs. It sounds like you don't enjoy this at all. Why bother watching or even wasting you time here if you think almost everyone on the team sucks? Some players you haven't even given a chance yet that are new to the team and you think they suck too.

Please tell me what is the point of you being here?

If Ian can be an adequate role player, what more can we ask for?
