It appears that T-Mac canceled the MRI and wants to keep playing, Adelman is going to monitor his minutes very carefully, some of you might already know this but the real news is.....BATTIER

    http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=10649
We saw this coming right? Frankly I'm surprised we saw the Houston Rockets' Big Three together for as long as we did. It's not even really fair to judge their results, as Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady weren't 100% to start the season. The fact that they're 7-4 is pretty impressive when you consider McGrady looked like he was having trouble even getting up and down the floor in most of those games.

As it turns out, our eyes did not deceive us. Credit Tracy for trying to play through a painful injury, the result of offseason surgery on his knee. Now the knee will prevent him from playing at all in an unknown number of games, but this time there is good news.

The Rockets have been without Shane Battier, normally one of the league's iron men, while he nursed a sore left foot. Battier was cleared to practice with the team on Monday and will now be cleared to resume playing. He obviously won't be ready for full-time duty on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks, but know he's on the bench ready to play will be a huge lift for the Rockets.

It's reasonable to expect to see Luther Head in the backcourt with Rafer Alston when the Rockets tip off tomorrow night, assuming Battier is deemed ready to start. But until McGrady's ready to return - and I would argue he should take his time and get ready for the second half of the season - expect to see Shane Battier starting alongside Ron Artest.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Ron Artest is not the complementary piece, but rather the replacement for the oft-injured McGrady.

I'm not sure how it's good news that the best player on the team is nearly in tears that his career is over one day and is running around like nothing's wrong the next.

He canceled the MRI because if it came back negative he would have to find another excuse for being a lazy ass.

It looks like the Rockets are tanking the season early to get a better lottery pick. McGrady knows they will never get out of the first round.

that doesn't even make sense. last time i checked the rockets were off to a slow start and still leading the southwest with a 7-4 record with battier on his way back. t-mac just needs to sit out the rest of the month and we will be fine. it's a softer stretch for the team.... i just realized t-mac can sit out for over a month if he wants...

i would love to see this team start to gel without him. t-mac is our best player when healthy but he has a tendency to not play within adelman's offensive system...especially when he isn't 100% when he is out of the game the ball and the players seem to move around much more freely.

More T-Mac drama. Any Houston fan should be used to his antics and lack of political savvy by now.

Who will face Mavs? Hard to say for Rockets
Team says Yao Ming likely out for 'precautionary reasons'

    By JONATHAN FEIGEN

    Nov. 19, 2008, 1:16PM

The Big Three have been keeping Rockets trainer Keith Jones busy. Here he tends to them in Oklahoma City.

In an Alice in Wonderland twist of events, the playing status of the Rockets' banged-up Big Three got "curiouser and curiouser" on Wednesday.

Forward Tracy McGrady, who had been unsure if he could play because of a sore left knee, said he would play tonight against the Dallas Mavericks but added that Yao Ming would not play.

Yao, who had said he was "fine, so fine," did not attend a shoot-around session so he could go to a doctor's appointment.

Ron Artest, who sprained an ankle Monday in Oklahoma, said that not only would he play but also that he had spoken to Yao and Yao might play, too. Yao injured his left ankle in Monday's game.

The Rockets initially called the availability of all the Big Three "game-time decisions" but later said Yao is likely out for "precautionary reasons" because of intermittent soreness in his left foot.

If all that did not confuse things enough, McGrady initially called himself a game-time decision and then revealed he was just "playing" and would play.

"Game time, more so leaning to playing," McGrady said. "Nah, I'm playing tonight. I got to play. The big fella is out so I've got to play tonight. He's out. They just said he was out tonight.

"It changes the way we play. We have to be an up-tempo team. We have to do a better job of rebounding. We don't have that post presence so we have to be more efficient."

McGrady said that Chuck Hayes would be starting at center.

And Artest said he has hope for seeing Yao in uniform.

"He still might go," Artest said. "I spoke to him. He might go. He's a warrior. I'm playing. I'm not at all (limited.) I'll be ready to go. It's just a little sprain. Everybody sprains ankles."

If Yao cannot play, Artest said, "That changes a lot."

McGrady did say something no one could dispute: The Rockets have grown accustomed to dealing with injuries.

"When you've been there done that, you know how to get through it," McGrady said. "We've been there several times. We're a team that knows how to overcome when one of our guys isn't there. We're thinking it's part of the season, definitely not thinking, 'Uh, oh!' — not in the panic mode by any means.

"We'll look forward to him (Yao) being in the lineup on Friday."

That column is odd. You can't tell what's what with any of their injuries. How does Yao sit when he was seemingly the most fit of all 3 injuries? And Tmac miraculously recovering from a potentional career-ending (heh) scrape only to return 2 days later?

Is it some trumped-up, walk out of the tunnel like Superman/team motivation-type thing to stir up the home crowd? Why?

    I'm lost. Kill me.

it's a plot to keep Dirk and Carlisle guessing as to how to play the Rockets. See all we have to do is keep our starting lineup completely scrambled and you'll have no way to prepare for us.

I think here's what really happened:

Yao after the game: I am fine, no big deal. Will play.
Doc: MRI, no good, Sir. You sit.

Tmac after the injury: OMG it hurts like a , I am out, I am out!
Doc: You are fine, Sally, don't need MRI.

Ron after the game: It's cool, just twisted Ankle.
Doc: What ever you said, Mr. Artest.
