The matchup between Jason Kidd and Devin Harris will reignite the debate about the merits of the trade that was made 10 months ago.
Ex-Mavericks coach Avery Johnson will be one of the interested parties tuned in to tonight's game with New Jersey.
"Devin is having an outstanding, All-Star season," Johnson said. "
I'm just so proud of him and the time
I worked with him.
I can see his growth and maturation.
"We kind of predicted it. If you go back and look at our comments, we talked about him being an All-Star around this time. It's not really a big surprise."
Harris and Johnson still talk. Harris said his former coach will call him with tips or observations about what he's done wrong.
"It's well do ented
I was pretty hard on him, and that was for a reason," Johnson said. "But as time went on,
I started to ease up on him.
"
I love him, and
I'm proud of him."
Harris ranks sixth in the league in scoring with an average of 23.8 points.
"Maybe he needed to get away from Avery a little bit," Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki said. "He's just out there playing free."
