No more guards. We need post help. We have enough guards to start a security firm. Just get duncan some help. Randolph is a beast but he's allergic to defense and could be lazy at times he's oil and the spurs is water.
Playing defense in the Warriors system automatically grants you a permanent seat on the bench.

Without Mike Brown to handle him, would SJax still fit? Mike's mentorship kept SJax in check.

Would I take Sjax back if we didn't have to give up too much? Absolutely.

Does he win the award for most overrated former Spur on this board? Hands down.

    overrated to what extent?

he has totally change since getting out of the pacers, and taken on a leadership role at the warriors, and has been rewarded with an extention. CANT blame him for the slump the warriors are in atm, injuries and no frontcourt...small ball will always get exposed. But his still putting up good numbers imo.

Just look at their contracts :
    Maggette : $50M/5 years
    Jackson : $43M/5 years

Both players have some qualities but both have also some serious flaws. I highly doubt Spurs are interested in getting one of them given their contracts.

These big contracts also significantly lowered their trade value. If a team is ready to roll the dice and make the financial gamble, this team will eb able to get one of them without giving a lot of assets.

overrated in the sense that many posters remember him as being more than just a good role player.

the only good numbers he's putting up this year are points. his shooting has been terrible (38% from the floor, 28% from 3). he's rebounding worse than finley. he's also terribly overpaid for what he actually gives you.

posters here remember the big threes he hit in the two game 6s, but they forget that he was very streaky (and not a great shooter overall), had questionable shot selection, was a turnover machine, and had at ude issues here that - while not being insurmountable - have not been present in any Spur since.

now, if you could get him without giving up anything more than spare parts - he would be an upgrade over finley (although finley has actually played better this year so far). but there would be questions about how well he could fit into a role on this team. would he be able to adjust to being the 4th or 5th option on the floor at any given time? would he be okay with his shot attempts being cut in half?

those who think mason is a better fit for this offense - they are right.

Well don't the Spurs need a SF?

Stephen Jackson could come in and start at SF for us. Pop will make sure he doesn't take stupid shots and his teammates will too. Also, not to forget his defense is probably more valuable to us than his offense. He could really help with guarding guys like Dirk.

Stephen was probably overrated by me and lots of other fans for the 2003 season, but he still hit those shots for us and played hard. He did turnover the ball and had questionable shot selection, but I think he is definitely a lot better player now than when he first signed that MLE type contract in the Hawks/Pacers sign and trade. He contract would definitely be a lot more attractive now though if he didn't sign that extension earlier this season.

It really depends on what the Spurs think a starting SF is worth to them? or do you guys think Sjax can't play SF and is more of a SG?
