I thought the Spurs should have trapped the last two plays to get the ball out of Kobe's hand, Manu did come on the last play to help Mase but all in all thanks Mason for hitting that shot, I thought the refs didn't call a foul.

    Two things:

    1) Kobe has got balls the size of mount rushmore, there are no two ways around that.

    and

    2) Mason is ing CLUTCH!!

TP choking again, late in the 4th quarter. Anti-clutch as always. Duncan's last two baskets have kept the team alive.

And after that phantom travel call on Ariza and actual Manu foul, Spur fans can't complain about the Lakers always getting the calls.

    It goes both ways.

Nice win Spurs fans. Nothing to really complain about, Lakers played well the Spurs just played better.
Not in the 4th. Spurs played well but damn LA was hot in the 4th.

very impressed with lakers. not defensively but neither were the spurs, but to make it a game given the injuries and heavy minutes from the guards to almost steal a game is crazy. hopefully our health improves for future matches to make it even against spurs

    Final: Spurs 112, Lakers 111
    By Joe Alexander

    FOURTH QUARTER

Roger Mason Jr. completed a three-point play with 10.5 seconds left off an inbounds pass and the Spurs' defense came through on the final possession of a 112-111 victory over the Lakers.

Mason and Manu Ginobili double-teamed Kobe Bryant on the Lakers' last possession. Bryant passed the ball to Trevor Ariza, who drove but was surrounded by the Spurs' inside defenders. Ariza traveled the Spurs got the ball back with less than a second left.

Kobe Bryant made a 3-pointer to put the Lakers in front 111-109 with 12.0 seconds left in the game. Spurs timeout.

The Lakers' Trevor Ariza made a tip-in, then Tim Duncan made one of two free throws. The Spurs lead 105-102 with 3:08 left. The Spurs have an outside shooting lineup on the floor for the final four minutes with Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Roger Mason Jr., Matt Bonner along with Duncan. Bonner has five fouls.

L.A.'s Josh Powell had three baskets and Kobe Bryant nailed a 3-pointer at the shot-clock buzzer. The Spurs' lead is down to 102-100 with 4:45 left.

The Spurs hit the 100-point mark with 8:04 left in the game on a George Hill jumper. That gave the Spurs their biggest lead at 100-89. Kobe Bryant was on the bench early in the quarter but he is about to come back in.

Michael Finley, who was scoreless the first three quarters, completed a three-point play with 11:18 left. The Spurs lead 98-89 with 8:59 left.

Tim Duncan didn't get a very long rest to start the fourth quarter. Matt Bonner picked up his fourth foul with 10:34 left in the game and Duncan went back in. Duncan had been on the bench since 2:28 left in the third quarter.

    THIRD QUARTER

Manu Ginobili scored six points in the last 12 seconds of the third quarter, three free throws and a 3-pointer, and the Spurs take a 95-87 lead into the fourth quarter. Ginobili has 25 points.

George Hill hasn't had many shots tonight, but he has been making them when he gets the chance. His 3-pointer with 1:12 left gave him eight points and put the Spurs ahead 89-80 - their biggest lead so far.

The teams are trading shot for shot. Tim Duncan has six points in the first nine minutes of the second half and the Spurs lead 82-79. Andrew Bynum has the Lakers' last two baskets.

Roger Mason Jr. hit a 3-pointer and a jumper and Tony Parker added a jumper. The Spurs lead 70-63 early in the second half. While the Spurs have had trouble matching up with the Lakers' big men, but Lakers haven't been able to keep up with all the Spurs' perimeter scorers.

    SECOND QUARTER

Manu Ginobili and Kobe Bryant both scored 14 points in the second quarter. The Spurs went into the break with a 63-61 lead.

Manu Ginobili has three 3-pointers in the second quarter. The most recent put the Spurs in front 56-53.

Tim Duncan's second basket of the night came with 6:14 left in the second quarter and tied it 45-45. He got on a roll and scored seven straight points.

The Lakers' Andrew Bynum is now 5 of 5 from the field and has 10 points. Gasol had 14 by the end of the first quarter.

Manu Ginobili and Matt Bonner hit 3-pointers early in the second quarter. Ginobili has three baskets in a stretch of 62 seconds going back to the end of the first quarter. The Spurs lead 39-38.

There was a familiar sight to start the second quarter: The Spurs' Bruce Bowen standing next to Kobe Bryant. When Bryant went to the bench with 9:10 left in the second quarter, Bowen was replaced by Roger Mason Jr.

    FIRST QUARTER

Manu Ginobili had a steal, a fast-break dunk and a driving basket all in the last 20 seconds and George Hill made two free throws with 0.1 second left as the Spurs finished the quarter with a 30-29 lead.

Tony Parker just helped the Spurs get a stop on a Lakers break, then came back and finished a Spurs break at the other end. He has 10 points and it's tied 22-22.

The Spurs can't stop the Lakers' big men. Pau Gasol hit 6 of 7 and has 12 points. Andrew Bynum has four and the Lakers lead 20-15.

Kobe Bryant recorded his first basket at the 5:19 mark. It looked like Roger Mason Jr. had good defensive position at Bryant was driving, but Bryant pulled back and shot over Mason.

Both teams are off to a hot start and the Spurs lead 13-10. Pau Gasol scored the Lakers' first eight points.

Roger Mason Jr. got the defensive assignment on Kobe Bryant. Four-plus minutes into the game Mason has five points on a 3-pointer and a jumper. Bryant hasn't scored yet.

    PREGAME

Spurs starters: Tony Parker, Roger Mason Jr., Michael Finley, Matt Bonner and Tim Duncan.

UPDATE: The Lakers' Jordan Farmar and Luke Walton are inactive tonight. Both have been injured. Sasha Vujacic is on the active list but is out with an injury also. Lamar Odom returned from injury in time for Tuesday's game against Houston and is active for tonight.

It seemed like there were as many Lakers jerseys as Spurs jerseys on the folks wandering around the concourse before the game. There was a loud road when the Lakers hit the floor - both cheers and boos. This might be the liveliest crowd we've had so far this season.

Wow, Mason is Gervin's son with his cold blood killer instinct!

Even thought we played bad in the 4th I like our ability to win close games, especially against the best team in the nba =p
