98 Vikes.
And I'm not talking about a team who's general core had already won a superbowl (like the 2001 Rams, that same core won one in 1999).
I'd say those 90's Bills teams that lost 4 straight are definitely up there, along with Schottenheimers Browns in the late 80s, as well as Gruden's Raiders in the early 2000's. The 98' Vikings were damn good too.
1998 Vikings, undoubtedly.
The 1987 49'ers are another that comes to mind.
Coryell's Chargers were great fun to watch and played some really good ball for a few years.
Texas Longhorns.
90's Bills. Riddled with hall of famers, they just ran into some buzzsaws and of course Scott Norwood.
Everyone always mentions the 98 Vikes as though they would have won easily in a super bowl that season but they forget that the Broncos absolutely steam rolled everyone that season.
Elway, Eddy Mac, Rod Smith, TD, and Shannon Sharpe all had career seasons in 98.
Although the Vikings would have been a much better game in the Super Bowl then the Falcons were.
ofcourse he picks the losers
The Oilers of the late '80s and early '90s. Those teams were phenomenally talented, but so, so flaky.
They won three Super Bowls.
