^ so if hte Mavs kept Harris they would've wound up w/ a 51-31 record and played the Hornets in the 1st round?

Good point. They might have won a few more games, but maybe not. The West was pretty tough last season and they were still 4 games behind the Rockets and Suns.

Mavs should have traded Josh Howard instead.

He would have failed the drug test on the team physical

with a team that has been a legit le contender since the Duncan era!
Basically, the Spurs have been a legit le contender (at least in the perception of many) in just about every season since 1989-90.

Spurs fans have had it amazingly good. Alas, many don't realize that.

they would have been able to sign someone to help. it was kidd's contract that hamstrung the mavs.

I'd like to see Dirk in San Antonio. Pop and Tim could probably cure his choking habit and then he could be a valuable addition to the Spurs bench.

Nowitzki will end up in San Antonio, beign the man in a line-up of:

    Parker
    Ginobili
    Mason or Battier
    Nowitzki
    Duncan

I wonder how Dirk compares to Bosh in the eyes of Pop and Buford regarding the 2010 free agent market. I've assumed for a while now that Bosh is their main target due to his Texas roots, stated admiration for Duncan & Robinson, etc... but since Pop is always talking about pairing Duncan with another big who can stretch the defense, it seems that Dirk might actually be the slightly better option. Of course Bosh is younger, and it would be risky to sign a 32 year old Dirk to a 5 year contract... it's going to be very interesting to see who they pursue first.

That sounds actually pretty good. Dirk would finally get a chance to play in a well-coached (the best, in fact) organization without a know-it-all asshole owner. And the hurt it would put on the mavs.
