Not to rain on the parade but Parker was 75% (15-for-20) at the line in clutch situations before this game. I'll take that every year from Parker.

    BUTS HES NOT CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah he did just ok, 20 some odd points 7 assists.

You people need to learn the game.
to be honest, the haters are paying Tony the highest of compliments. 23(?) and 7 with 6tos is horrible for Tony. 9 out of 10 pgs in the league would give a nut for that stat line.

    Of course they would.

The great fans of this team though love to bash parker.

He could have 35 and 15 and they would that he scored too much and should've had 20 assists.

is missing 2 when your up by 5 with 19secs left a clutch situation?

If that's from this year, then I haven't been watching enough regular season games. All I know is I remember a lot of times just from watching the games over the past seasons, where Tony has clanked a lot of FT's in close situations / and non close situations, which is why they always had to give the rock up to anyone but Manu , Fin and Barry.

I didn't know he was shooting 80 percent this year over last year's 71 so maybe he's improved since last year because I noticed Pop allowing Tony to get fouled to ice the game.

Again, the guy had played 43 minutes, and he just made 2 fts earlier to put em up 5.

What game are you people watching ?
The one in which Tony shot 7/12 (58%) from the line. I'm not trying to dis Tony, I love the guy (Manu too, sheesh), but there are better players to inbound the ball to when they're going to shoot free throws. Finley, Ginobili, Mason. The Warriors were hitting a couple clutch baskets, why even screw around or risk it? You put your best % free throw shooter at the line, and (meaning no disrespect to him) that isn't Parker. He hit two free throws, then he missed two. That's 50%, and it's why Mason, Finley, or Ginobili should have had the ball.

how blind do people have to be to not see how freakish Tony is. 6'2" and earns a living in the paint. do they not see how hard it is for our bigs and other guards to score down there?

Yeah. The criteria is in the final five minutes of the game or in overtime with the score separated by five points or less.

its simple man, there are players on this team we dont trust at all whether its in the clutch or final minute of the game.

tony i dont trust him at the ft line in the clutch (he is bound to miss just like duncan, players can streaky at times)

manu i dont trust him on defense in the clutch, his bound to do something stupid....even on offense sometimes like a turn over or not getting to the line, but he can definitely shoot at the line.

bonner costs us 3 games when plays were written for him or he was guy open to take the shot and stinked it when it matter....

tim duncan gets a pass on everything whatever he does.....

rest of the players cant comment on cause they are never in position to get a final shot or final play....besides mason...but i leave it at that.

Yeah that half a second he held the ball when it was thrown at him, he should've passed it

There is Hate, and there is homerism on the other end.

This thread is really really mild on from what I've seen in Tony Parker "hate."

The only thing worse than blind hate, is inability comment on possible weaknesses of our players. Even Timmy has his Tim Bumpkin moments some games. People were just asking why Tony was put on the line, because some weren't used to it.

Are Spurs fans even watching games anymore? Not sure why I have to point it out but when TP missed both free throws, it wasn't off of an inbounds play. It was after a GS miss, KT got the rebound and, IIRC, passed it to Manu who then passed it to TP. If you don't want TP having the ball in that situation, the blame goes to Manu for passing it to TP. But I'm not going to blame Manu in that situation because he's trying to burn off more time and TP had just hit two.

But yeah, whatever. The Spurs gut out a victory and we have Spurs fans arguing over two late free throws that didn't mean anything.

    Lame

He was put on the line cause he got thrown the ball quickly an held it for a millisecond and was fouled.

People weren't asking, they were screaming for the god Ginobili to get the ball.

At the end of the game, when TP get to the line it was from an inbound pass and he made both FT.
The second time it was after a defensive rebound, KT gave the ball to TP and Golden State fouled him immediately. There was no other option. He missed both FT.
Obviously it was not a great game from TP. You can't be great every night.

Who is actually blind? Tony is AWSOME... we are discusing an specific situation... don't try to get to the line in clutch having three PROVEN clutch FT shooters. that's all.

Anything to tear down Tony Parker.

I can't wait till he does leave in FA and were left with Greg Sutton like point guards to see if these morons stick around and say "boy guess that Parker guy was ok...."

So Parker once he got the pass from Ginobili should've thrown the ball away milliseconds later because by YOU guy's definition, hes not a clutch shooter.

I'm saying they shouldn't have passed it to him in the first place Einstein.

I'm at a loss here. I'm not saying Parker isn't great (he is). I'm not saying he isn't clutch (as he proved in this game alone scoring that acrobatic shot among others), he is. Free throw shooting is not his forte, however. I don't care if he's 300 times better than Michael Jordan. If he's not shooting well from the line, and you have 3 guys on the floor who shoot in the upper 80's on free throws, give it to the other guys. It's not an insult to Parker. I love Parker, he's awesome. It's very simple, basic statistical strategy.

THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK ON PARKER. I FREAKING LOVE HIM, OK?!!!

don't overdue it. the hate only comes from this board, because it's easy access for the Argentinians. In San Antonio Tony is royalty.
