    Ginobili ankle injury raises questions
    By Jeff McDonald

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Manu Ginobili has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Pistons, as well as the final game of the Spurs' rodeo road trip against Washington on Saturday.

Ginobili missed Tuesday's loss at New York, remaining in San Antonio for tests and treatment on what the team has termed a sore right ankle.

The Spurs did not disclose the scope and severity of his injury Wednesday. A source within the organization says the injury in not considered a threat to end Ginobili's season.

Ginobili underwent a battery of tests Tuesday, including an MRI. Team doctors are scheduled to meet with coach Gregg Popovich, general manager R.C. Buford and athletic trainer Will Sevening on Thursday to discuss the findings.

Oh 228, I don't know if I'm more relieved, or more anxious now.

Yes, if this is a CIA Pop ploy, it's possible.

However, it sounds like best case scenario is out for at least a while.

Given everything, as long as Manu's back by the playoffs, I'd be thrilled.
    Timvp,

I have a question. Can a team who is trading a player like VC take some of his salary to help get a deal done with another team?

I know that might not make sense for NJ...since they are dumping salary.

But I was wondering if they could do that?

That's a pretty huge meeting regarding "ankle soreness".

Hopefully McDonald's source is right about it not being a threat to Ginobili's season.

If he's gonna miss the next two games only, then that's alright.

My best friend has an inside source on the team and he just text messaged me telling me he was only out for the Rodeo trip.
    That's been the team's official stance since this morning . . .

    That's the bottom line.

The Spurs are ultraconservative when it comes to injuries.

And Manu is a warrior who has to be held back at times.

If the ankle is not a threat to Manu's season then the meeting between Pop, R.C., Will, and the doc's is most likely to see when Manu can play or how much time Manu should stay off of it. But I'm glad to hear that this injury should not take him out for the season.

Spurs leak Ginobili is done for the year.

Spurs get Carter on the cheap thanks to this.

Ginobili is magically ok for the mavericks game next tuesday.

If the Spurs leak Ginobili is done for the year, then NJ would want MORE not less for VC because they'd think the Spurs would be desperate.

Seems unusual to have a meeting like that and it might mean that the MRI didn't reveal anything specifically. However, the soreness of the ankle might have led them to try other methods for determining what is going on.

If it is persistently sore and they don't know exactly why, then this might explain the meeting.

Is it unusual to have a meeting like this to determine injuries ?

Depends if NJ really want to offload VC.
