I thought they only fired Porter, who turned average/slightly above average defensive squads (D'Antoni Suns) into a terrible defensive team (this season Suns).

Yeah, he talked a lot about defensive improvement, but it was just that. More amazingly: this season Suns were the best defensive team Porter has ever coached. How he got the "defensive minded coach" reputation is beyond comprehension.

And any improvement the Suns got had nothing to do with running more. They're running as much with Gentry as they were doing with Porter in the last couple of months.

Take it easy, it's just one game (against arguable one of the best defensive teams in the league). I'm not expecting much out of this squad this season, especially with amare out and having to change gameplay midstream again. I do however find it ironic how management keeps trading their best defensive players away. I'll forgive them for marion since it had to be done and shaq is the ultimate anchor when you need to guard dominant bigs.

Considering how many f'ups have occured and all the bad luck, be happy America West, Airlines, of whatever their stadium is called hasn't spontaneously combusted.
