No kidding.
Chinese food is not really "Chinese" food either but we call it Chinese food.
No kidding.
Have a great time!
I seriously doubt I will get as lucky as you did...but it will be fun nonetheless.![]()
Henry's Puffy Tacos on Bandera
24 hrs- Mama Margies
Best Margaritas- Amorcito's - 1604 and Blanco?
I hate Americanized ethnic food. Just completly screws up the original dish by adding more cheese, fat, salt, soy, cheap ingrediants and grease. Lets just keep America fat forever!
You can't go wrong with a .69 or is it .79 cent bean and cheese from Mama Margies if its like two or three in the morning.
I can't go wrong with that at any time of the day with my broke ass.![]()
Cool man...just look for the big bald noggin in front of you.![]()
Ah, Chachos... I've downed too many frozen Jack and Coke's there too remember. The food was ok, nothing great.
Out of the aforementioned Mi Tierra, Margarita's, and Pico de Gallo I would suggest Pico de Gallo as it is IMO the best of the three although all three are geared more to a tourist crowd. There was a little hole in the wall place that I would go with my parents in south San Antonio called Mi Cocina or something of that nature but I don't remember the name exactly. That was some good TexMex food.
If you want a good chicken fried steak dinner try Bud Jones' Restaurant.
Here, Here. Team loyalties aside, you are obviously a man with good taste regarding authentic Mexican Food. I am 1/2 Mexican 1/2 Russian. Moms from Guadalajara and trust me, She knows Mexican food........
....Tequilla and Vodka baby.....
Negatory. 2 completely different types of cuisine.![]()
Without that "bland" garbage you wouldn't have that caca thing you all call "Tex-Mex". Nothing more aggravating than "Tejano" type people trying to keep some semblence of being "Mexican" yet getting mad if they are called "Americans". San Antonion's.......what a group.![]()
Have fun! One day I am going to make it out to San Antonio and watch the Spurs kick some ass!!!
Dude, what are you a mojado or something? Why is it such a big deal to you what people in Texas call their food? You Cali Mexicans can be really weird...

I think I went to Mi Tierra a couple of years back while wandering around the market. We had a appetizer there in between meals. The only reason I remember is the pictures of the dessert bar look familiar. La Margaritas looks a little too touristy, so I think I'll give Pico de Gallo a try one day then maybe run up to Chacho's the next.
As far as the Tex-Mex/authentic debate goes, I like both and it depends on my mood. We have a very large Hispanic population here in Tyler and there are several mom and pop spots on the east side of town that you have to hear about from a friend to know where they are. They always have great food. There is also a big Tex-Mex place down the road from my house called Posado's that I go to at least once a week. It's cheap and good...and they do $3 happy hour on the Margaritas before 7.
don't you mean mezcal?
damn i had some rough times down in mx on mezcal. went to this wedding down in acapulco 2 yrs ago and drank my life away for 3 days partying with those people. they know how to throw a freakin' wedding!
oh and i hooked up with a hot little guadalajara chick in acapulco while i was out there too... damn she was fine! guadalajara is on my list of places to visit.
ps: real mexican food is far from bland... i think calling mx food bland is more an ignorant statement then anything else.
No, but I could sure use a Mojito right about now
Just don't call Tex-Mex Mexican, that's all.
Guad babes are gorgeous. Beats the bearded aunts and female cousins I have on my Pop's Russian side of the family.![]()
Tex-Mex = Mexican. Deal with it.
No one's agruing that.....
Around these parts though Mexican food = Tex-Mex. When you say one you really mean the other. It's a reasonable assumption.
