Spurs have a lot of offensive upside this year. They are maybe the most talented Spurs' team on the offensive end of the Duncan era.

If the defense isn't too bad, Spurs will make some noise in the playoffs.

Drew Gooden will do nothing to help our interior D. He'll be the interior scoring we've lacked off the bench, plus rebounding. That's it.

A good bargain for the price, but don't overestimate what he brings to the table.
Gooden is not a strong defender, but I think it's overstating it quite a bit to say he'll do nothing at all to aid interior defense. He's 6'10" and athletic, which already gives him an edge over Oberto (who I like by the way).

Tim Duncan's scoring in 2007 finals:
    Game 1: 24 points
    Game 2 : 23
    Game 3: 14
    Game 4: 12

That's 18.25 ppg in the finals. His average ppg that season was 20 even. Again, Gooden is not a great defender, but many on this website have really gone overboard depicting him as an absolute non-factor on D, while ironically also praising the great effort put forth by Pops Mensah-Bonsu, who has never started for an NBA team as Gooden has.

Drew Gooden may not be known for his defense, but he is still tall, physical, and capable of standing in front of someone. Plus he's a hustle player with playoff experience, which is always good for something.

I'll admit that watching him in rotations is probably gonna make us wince a few times, but it's not like they are just putting a cardboard cutout of him out on defense. He's a big body that we didn't have before.

If there was a big man out there that was a good defender and inside scorer, he'd either be signed by somebody else already, or we wouldn't be able to afford him right now. If you ask me, Drew Gooden is a better pickup than Nazr Mohammad was at the time (hindsight not included), but I guess some people are never happy.

Gooden has 11 double-doubles in 32 games. Only about 20 some odd players are getting doudle-doubles in 1/3 of their games this season.

For the Spurs, Duncan has 37 double-doubles.

Next is Parker with 10 (off of assists)

Then Bonner 1, Hill 1, Thomas 1, everyone else 0.

I say Gooden makes the Spurs the West favorites.

Best thing about that interview, was Drew saying he is ready to go as early as tomorrow if he has to and if Pop lets him and that surgery has been ruled OUT right now and he feels fine.

I liked that he also said he can provide this team with not only his energy, rebounding, and scoring, but also DEFENSE. Maybe he is ready to be a Spur and show us what he's got and D it up.

    Thanks, the video is encouraging.

And thank you R.C. Buford for being on top of things, Gooden said that was one of the reasons he came here. Good job.

Points scored by Oberto in the 2007 nba finals:

    Game 1: 0 points

    Game 2: 4 points

    Game 3: 6 points

    Game 4: 7 points

That's an average of 4.25 ppg. Oberto's average for the '06-'07 season was 4.4 ppg.

Rewatch game 4 again and see who made the cluth points in that quarter other than Manu.

    No where.

Can't customize on NBA.com due to "no current or past player's name can be used."

Wait, so you went from saying Gooden allowed Oberto to score, a lot, in the series to Gooden allowed him to go ape (7 points) in one game where all I can remember is he got an And1.
