Look who's way, way up there on the list of best defensive PGS, besides Beno and the Rafist of course.
I personally don't know because I don't get too see too many of his games but what do you guys think of his defense? Here is a link that will give you guys more info on this. Its pretty long but it has good info - http://atthehive.wordpress.com/2008/...ad-at-defense/

I was all over this in my CP3 is no MVP thread. I think he's terrible defender. Not that I think it's all his fault; he's giving several inches and several pounds to near every opponent, but he is too much of a gambler and I've been maintaining that you could throw his steal totals out of the window because of it. I didn't actually know, but my intuition was telling me to find a stat showing how high a fg% his opponents shoot, but I was too lazy to do it. Your article covers it nicely. Once again, CP3 is no MVP!
But back to Paul- CP gives up a higher eFG% than Steve Nash (!!) and Baron Davis. This is probably a reflection of how much he sags off point guards to get into the passing lanes. On the instances he’s too far (see the Fisher shot Friday), the point guard gets a clean look at a jumper. Do that too often, and eFG% is bound to go up. So, ironically, his high steals total may be an indication of too much gambling on defense.
What annoys me is that he refuses to post up smaller defenders, he should be getting us easy points. I look at it this way, Dirk is a Pf with mediocre post game but superb shooting on the other hand Kidd is a guard with bad shooting but good post game. They are both so unorthodox so the combo of Kidd and Dirk should be working better than this. But since Kidd refuses to post up smaller guards its in up imo. But this really doesn't have any thing to do with this thread...
I don't get that either. It seems like not enough strong PG's take advantage of the post. Most of them are young and stupid, but what's Kidd's excuse? GP should call his ass up and tell him what the deal is.
Ironically, did you see the play in the UT game where he tried to post Deron up from about 15 ft. out, went nowhere and then threw up an airball? Why he'd try to post up a guy like that when he's normally so reluctant to do it otherwise is beyond me.
Yeah this is probably a hidden flaw of Cp3's game. Don't worry though most coaches and some players probably have realized this. He will definetely end up being exposed by a high scoring point guard in the playoffs(J-kidd definetely isn't one of em)
I absolutely agree with this. It was laughable to see Paul mentioned somewhere recently as a legitimate Defensive Player of the Year candidate because his steals number is high.
I could see that Paul makes a legitimate case for MVP in the same sense that Nash has in the past few years, but he has not, by any means, shown himself to be a great two-way player and that has to count against him at some level.
Bump. Yes.
I get the feeling you don't believe Chris Paul should be MVP...
I think it's a beyond ridiculous assertation. And for what it's worth I feel even more strongly about the invalidity of Nash's trophies.
