So I take it you're off the "tankapalooza" bandwagon.
Great game, now I remember what 2005-2007 was like. GO SUNS!!!!
So I take it you're off the "tankapalooza" bandwagon.
It's on!
Sidenote: What was Nene thinking trying to headbutt Ponytail in such a big game? Did he think the refs wouldn't react?
Shaq vs Kobe, come on Suns couple more wins.
Uh... Excuse me.... Where the was this kind of effort earlier in the year?
that will be the suns nail in the coffin...mavs will go 8-4 or 9-3 over last 12 and suns will do the same so in the end Mavs will advance. Suns fans should also look at UTAH, they have a brutal schedule left and you guys play them twice.
those road games will be tougher without Barbosa
Ask Terry Porter.
I am actually hoping the Suns to get the 8th spot and be ready to rumble with the Lakers. Shaq, as old and antiquated as he is, is a tough match-up for Gasol and Bynum combined. Put Barbosa on Kobe and you get a match, made-in-heaven a la the Warriors vs. the Mavs in 2007!
Go Suns!!!!
Dragic has made incredible progress in the last 6-8 weeks. He's still not completely worth the buyout money Suns had to fork over, but the speed of the game doesn't seem to overwhelm him anymore and he has fresh legs. Active defense last night, good decisions on the break, and a key 3-pointer made him pretty valuable last night off the bench.
I'm happy he's been playing better lately. I felt bad for him earlier where he could not doing anything right. I wonder if Porter was pressuring him too much? porter stopped playing him altogether for a while there. Gentry is somehow getting away with giving him a few minutes and still getting the win granted most of the compe ion has been weak lately.
Porter has the same effect on point guards as Avery Johnson.
That was a fun game to watch. The officiating was pretty crappy, but both teams played with a lot of energy. Nice win, Phoenix!
Agreed. This was probably the one game this season where you could argue the Suns might not have won if they didn't have Dragic.
Quick criticism though, Nash needs to stop running high pick and rolls with Shaq, and simply feed him down low. They never work, and Nash's love for running the high pick and roll every god dam time up the court almost threw the game away because Shaq had Birdman guarding him down low, and rather than expose the size difference, Nash ran pick and rolls, something Birdman is really good at defending.
This is where Gentry needs to begin the process of developing an actual half court offense that can be relied on late in close games against good teams.
you're expecting nash to be able to tell the difference between Shaq and Amare? I not even sure if he knows marion is gone yet!![]()
I agree - Nene should have been thrown out earlier for the clothesline. That elbow wasn't nearly as bad, but I supposed the refs thought it was a " ulative" ejection. Even things as simple as balls going out of bounds seemed difficult for this crew.
“The fact it got to where it did was ridiculous,” Amundson said. “I don’t back down from anybody. I play hard and physical. Apparently false tough guys don’t like that, so they like to swing at you. I guess I’m making enemies around the league.”
That'a boy, Lou.
I guess not since it's not very fun.
It actually isn't too surprising that the Nuggets lost. They've had absolutely no success playing in Phoenix. I think they last won here in 2003?
Idk, it's been awhile. I remember last year they were up by 19 at half time in Phoenix but lost.
PS - have you ever played a pickup game at the rec center against this roughly 6'4" extremely fat guy (like easily 300 pounds probably closer to 325) w/ blond hair where all he does is camp out in the paint?
Me and a few friends were playing against a team he was on yesterday, and I'm the overall biggest person of the 5 (and it's not like I'm huge or anything) so I had to guard him. He was so annoying and it was so un-fun to guard him and his repeated offensive fouls he used to establish post position that I was almost ready to call three in the key but I didn't want to be "That guy". I woke up today and I feel like I was ed by train a cause my legs are so sore.
I think I know who you're talking about, but I've never had the privilege of guarding him, considering I'm 5'11", 140 lbs, and would have absolutely no chance of stopping him.
When I went to play there last night, I was on the same team as this 6'4" dude who's really skinny and looks like the giant from the movie Big Fish (see below). He's pretty good, but he literally es aloud on every. ing. play. He es about teammates. He es about opponents. He es about foul calls. He es about missed shots, turnovers, passes that don't go to him, etc. Softest piece of I've ever played with. I got so fed up with him that I started berating his lack of effort on D for the entire court to hear.

Ya I'm 6'2" on a good day and roughly 225. That sounds like a decently big person but not really when the guy I'm guarding has 100 pounds on me. I really don't have a low center of gravity either, if I had huge legs or even a decent sized gut for leverage it would have been easier to guard him. You know it's not basketball if being fat would make it easier to guard him.
The guy I was guarding is a soft piece of considering he had a 2-3 inch and 100 pound advantage on me and shot like 2 for 7 in 1 game and 2 for 5 in the other.
Well, personally I get confused sometimes when Dudley is on the court now that his dreads are gone. I often pause and wonder if it's Diaw out there, but then I see actual hustle, so that thought quickly passes.
