Thats good they should do well now
Iverson to miss remainder of season
Detroit Pistons guard Allen Iverson will miss the remainder of the season due to a sore back, the team announced Friday.
Iverson already was sidelined 16 games earlier this season from February 27-March 28. Since returning to the Pistons, the 10-time All-Star has averaged just 7.7 points and 2.7 assists.
“After talking with Allen and our medical staff, we feel that resting Allen for the remainder of the season is the best course of action at this time,” Pistons president Joe Dumars said. “While he has played in our last three games, he is still feeling some discomfort, and getting him physically ready to compete at the level he is accustomed to playing this late in the season does not seem possible at this point.”
Iverson, 33, has averaged 17.4 points and 4.9 assists in 54 games this season with the Pistons, who acquired the four-time league scoring champion from the Denver Nuggets on November 3.
Iverson hasn't held them back at all. They're just not very good.
Rockets are closer to the Mavs than the Mavs are to the Pistons.
This is not surprising. Many have said this about Iverson. I am surprised he came back at all. Everyone knew he was done with the Pistons. No big deal.
Iverson is no novice when it comes to the NBA. He knows what his acts will have have drastic repercussions. He should no better.
They haven't been good this year, but they still have the capability of being a pretty good team. When they've been relatively healthy, with or without Iverson, they've beaten some of the better teams in the league like the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Cavs, Magic, Nuggets. And, all of those wins except against the Cavs were on the road. The coaching and chemistry really hurt the team earlier on, and then losing Iverson, Hamilton, and Rasheed to injury for long stretches of games hurt as well.
No, the Pistons aren't a very good team this season, and I don't attribute it all to Iverson. But, if they get healthy and collectively right in the head, they could be a pretty good team. Whether or not that does happen is a different issue.
Just like the old injuries they used to have in order to keep extra players on the roster.
I heard theres an opening at PG on the knicks next year
Who here thinks AI has to be the lamest NBA player to date? There is no doubt in my mind that his back is now fine. Whats with the Detroit front office though. The guy throws a hissy fit for having to come off the bench now they will give him a long vacation with pay? Thats a pretty lame cop out. They should be telling him that either he plays, be it coming off the bench or not, or he is fined. Detroit is paying the man for something right?
He should just consider retirement then because after this season I don't think there will be any "contending" team out there willing to pay him as much as he thinks he is worth, let alone start him.
Man up dude...
His image his been a stain on the league for years. Needs to retire.
I can easily see him in a Clipper uniform next season.
Though, my wish would be that he just retire and never return.
