Guys, isn't chile piquin those half sized, very thin jalapeno looking peppers? They sell them at HEB right next to the jalapenos. But I have never seen the dried red ones here.

Please explain then. I just Googled it and they all said meatball.
That's what my grandpa always said, too. We only had cheese in ours, and not that gross yellow . Always the queso blanco.
That's what they are to me.
I'm not reading the whole thread because it's making me hungry, but y'all are making me think of my Mexican Aunt Josie, who was a great cook and watched me one year after school. Her arroz con pollo is the . "The secret is fresh ajo y comino!" :drool
i didn't know that the google spokens. my dad makes it with salmon, potato, and something else. i don't remember, but they're damn good. a quasi-crab cake of sorts.
My mom has a big plant at her house too.
I'm probably showing how white I am but I've got a question...
My cousin's grandmother was mexican and she would make this soup called Calavacita (what she called it) and it was basically chicken corn squash zuccini tomatoes onions and a bunch of es that made it super delicious.
Has anyone ever heard of this type of soup? If so, is that what it's really called?
Any help is appreciated, I've been trying to look for recipes online to try to make it on my own.
comino smells like sweaty july armpit
Mmmmmmmm....that is basically what my mom makes but not as soupy and she uses pork.
Calabasa is what we called it in our home. I'll get my sister's recipe (its delicious) and give it to you. This thread is reminding me of my mom.
You have to use it sparingly. Too much of it is overpowering, imo, but I can't imagine cooking some things without it.
Seriously, you all.
But it tastes great in all my dishes.
Awesome! Thank you!
I just got a recipe for cochinita pibil I'm going to try. This ing thread made me want some.
I've never really seen it as a soup before, but I could eat that all day long. I've found several recipes, but none yet that even come remotely close to my grandmother's.![]()
very sparingly, except in carne guisada. yummmmm
My mom is cooking for Easter. Whoohoo!!!
