Playoffs in doubt for Cavs' Wallace

Cavaliers forward Ben Wallace has a strained tendon in his left knee, putting his availability in doubt for the playoffs.

Wallace left Sunday's game against Boston in the second quarter with what the team said was a bruise. An MRI taken at the Cleveland Clinic on Monday revealed a patellar tendon strain. Wallace will not play in Monday's game at Indiana and is listed as doubtful for the regular-season finale on Wednesday against Philadelphia.

The Cavs gave no timetable on how long Wallace, the club's best interior defender, could be out.

Wallace recently returned after missing 17 games with a broken right leg.

Their interior defense is not as good w/o him. They were getting worked previously in terms of points in the paint, but i think that's gotten better lately.

Not getting Ben Wallace back for the Playoffs does hurt the Cavs. They're already not a very good interior team. Big Z is a 7'3 guy who likes to play on the perimeter.

Anderson Verajao is the next big and he averages 3 fouls in his 30 minutes.

This is why the Cavs have to go deep into their undersized backups (Darnell Jackson, Joe Smith)

Teams with punishing big frontlines will hurt the Cavs. Teams like the Celtics (with KG), Magic, Lakers, Rockets, Blazers, etc.

This is why I still think Boston will make it to the finals. All they need is a relatively healthy Powe and KG and they will destroy Cleveland down low.
