Current NBA players who've earned their spots today:

    Kobe Bryant
    Tim Duncan
    Kevin Garnett
    Shaquille O'Neal
    Steve Nash
    Paul Pierce
    Allen Iverson
Manu Ginobili (you can and I would make the argument that he's in right now)

A few current NBA players who are on a HOF pace:

    Chris Paul
    LeBron James
    Dirk Nowitzki (very close)
totally agree, those players you memtioned above all have shown the whole world that they deserve to be put into the HOF, we can't expect too much more on them though. While the 3 players you mentioned below the lockers of HOF still are increasing and approaching their primes, inarguably those 3 guys will definitely win a couple of championships before retiring, CP is playing on Hornets though. Nash and AI both are virgin to champion rings but their trophies of 2 regular season MVPs and 3 scoring champoins still are more than enough to arch them respectively into the HOF.

Knee-Mac is pretty much a lock for HOF. He is after all one of the top 5 SG to play the game and once the best player in the league.
No way is he a lock. His numbers don't compare all that favorably to Bernard King's, and King never gets any love from the HOF. If McGrady's career continues on the tail-end of the Vince Carter arc, no way he makes it. I don't even think Carter makes it, even with some of the ridiculous playoff performances he has had.

First of all LeBron is a hall of famer already. T-back is a hall of famer it doesn't matter if we like him or not he's in. Same for Vince and AI. I'm not sure if he's been mentioned or not but Ray Allen will also make it. And Jason Jason Kidd is a sure thing. Those all need to be added to the list of locks. They aren't even up for debate.

if Tback, vince, and AI make it into the hall, it cheapens the accomplishments of everybody that is already in it.

I'm not a fan of those 3 either but they're gonna make it. So Hall of fame, prepare to be cheapened.

How is T-Mac a hall of famer? Because he's not. Not while Bernard King still isn't in.

Same with Vince. You could argue AI since he has a MVP, finals appearance and will end up pretty high on the all time scoring list.

being the top scorer in the league doesn't make you the best player.
But winning a playoff serie is required.

I agree that TMac and Vince are borderline, Kidd is definitely in, as is Iverson.

Any chance Ben Wallace gets voted in? His offense was atrocious and his defense has suffered lately, but when he was in his prime he was a beast.

I don't see Wallace in; especially if Rodman isn't there.

Hey since Amare is better than Dirk, and most people here think Dirk is a lock, does that make Amare a first ballot pick also?

Amare is better than Dirk? Did I miss something? Well, yes, he's better in overestimating himself. I remember the bullocks he said in the beginning of the season concerning the DPOY

First of all LeBron is a hall of famer already.
I firmly believe LeBron will be there in the future. But, to make things clear, you say he's a hall of famer already? Right now? If he had a career ending injury today and never played another game in the NBA, you think he's still a hall of famer based on his six seasons in the league?

That really you Ghazi/Dirk? I implied he had a higher cieling due to his young age and the monster numbers he was putting up last year...

Would you really want to build around a pretty much Has-Been already, or a player for the future? Don't take me out of context.

Oh and being a better basketball player doesn't mean you are getting into the hall. If player B makes it into the hall and player A is better, it doesn't mean . It is calculated based on accomplishments. We all know that Yao Ming is eons above Dirk but he hasn't accomplished nearly as much, so dirk gets his pass for the really good team they built around him. Anyways, we all know how his MVP turned out..
