It is reported in Greece for awhile now 10 NBA teams have already offered full MLEto him for this summer. He had first say he would like Spurs but nothing since then. Rockets came up because their GM went to meet him in Athens a few weeks ago.

I don't think you can offer the MLE if you are under the cap.
i know but give him a mle contract like 5 million a year would be good for him this kid is good i admit, but not be %100 answer

so give him one year here then resign him in 2010

e ally if he wants to play with SA that bad

    Reported in Greece........

Ioannis Bourousis has been offered contracts by Olympiacos (extension) Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs. His decision will come soon, short time after Greek league playoff finals are finished.

He's a curiosity to me. He seems smart on the pick and roll and has range, two things that would make him a Popovich fascination. But I watched the recent Final Four and really question whether he has the defensive speed, foot and body, to play passable defense in the NBA. I'm not making a dogmatic pronouncement, but I think there is a chance he could be the Greek Jackie Butler. That's a lot of risk to take when his contract would eat valuable dollars and require multiple years.

Well, IMO, he will take an offer for 3-4m euros tax free per year from Olympiakos and stay here. I doubt that there is a team at nba to invest so much money for Bourousis

You maybe right, but that 3-4mi offer from Olympiakos will always be there for him. He should take a pay cut in order to chase an NBA ring and improve his game playing alongside Tim Duncan.

Yeah, that 's what he have to do if he wants to play at nba.
But the pay cut will be a large one. 3m € = 3.9m$ , 4m€ = 5,2m$ and Olympiakos also pay the tax.Let's say the tax is 10% , so Olympiakos offer 4,2-5,7m$.
Another factor is the playing time. He (Bourousis) probably wants to ensure that he have at least 15m per game to accept a pay cut.
Thats my opinion and not what Bourousis will do.

I'm just trying to say that there are a few Greek players that could play at NBA ,Papaloukas, Diamantidis but they never want to. I also think that it's difficult to prove that spurs made an offer on Bourousis cause spurs never say on who player really are interesting in. There are rumors there and here and just rumors. I could say that those rumors are managers game for a larger contract from Olympiakos. IMO only Printezis will try to play at NBA , and there are a Canadian article (sry i can find right now) that Toronto is after him.

Anyway as i live in Greece , i could say that Bourousis is an aggessive C, good rebounder and blocker. He needs to work his post game and coach Giannakis works on that way.

    Geia sou Ellada!!!

Bourousis, will lose tons of money the first year, and he is not going to have lots of playing time with SA, but he will improve his game, thats for granted, and that by itself worths the money IMHO. So even if he doesn't crack the rotation, his time is not wasted.

Well if it's true, i don't see a reason to not sign for Miami. Guaranteed time for a pay cut + a chance to play with DWade. To good to be true. It's a long long summer....

Don't forget that V-Span also had guaranteed playing time with the Rockets, according to the teams' owners. And if you are old enough you will also remember, Stojan Vrankovic had guaranteed playing time, and they re-did his contract, or something to that extend.

Guaranteed time is pretty immature, if you ask me. D Wade is awesome but he is not the mentor Duncan is, also Spurs already have plenty European players, and they play more like a European team, its just a better situation all around.

Miami is still a young team, they are trying to build an iden y and still figuring things out. Too much uncertainty if you ask me. Nothing beats the spurs as it concerns the way they develop players.
