McGrady or not, they need to find a way to take some of the burden off Delonte's shoulders. He was playing 40-plus minutes in the Playoffs because they didn't have another ballhandler aside from him and Mo and he was guarding guys who were 6-7 inches taller than him. Delonte is a warrior, but they were asking a LOT from him.

Best case, they find a taller two and move Delonte to the bench as the sixth man. He'd be a beast in that role.
So you don't think LeBron is an adequate enough ballhandler?

Maybe he should be. Hes the best ball handler, passer, and decision maker the Cavs have.
    And that includes Mike Brown...

He's also their best two-guard, small forward, power forward, coach and GM. But he can only do so much at once.

Ferry was painted in a corner...he HAD to do something or else Lebron walks in 2010. I don't think Shaq makes the Cavs all that much better.

If it wasn't Shaq, it would have been Chandler.

And the Suns, they're fallen into the canyon of irrelevance.

hey Thunder Dan... is it true that the Cavs are interested in possibly going after T-Mac? I've heard rumors. Just wanted to see what you have heard of in the Cleveland area.
I've heard Charlie V, Jamison and Sheed. Nothing on T-Mac

T-Mac and Lebron might work at this point in mcgrady's career...because he wouldn't need the ball or score a lot. He would be a distributor , what he does best.

Either way sorry, b.c hopefully we will ship his ass to Phoenix!

Might make them better, almost certainly won't make them worse. The biggest question right now is if Shaq can come up with some creative way to on the Phoenix Suns franchise by the time the Cavs are ready to introduce him at a press conference.

i'm looking forward to see this whole thing playout. People keeps saying today that Shaq will be motivated. Was he not motivated when he made the first place Suns into a crap team? We'll see...we havent seen Shaq do any good for a team since 2006. This will be a fun year.

"Lebron is the best player ever"

    LeBron isn't a point guard.
Delonte technically isn't a point guard either. He's an undersized 2-guard with some PG skills.

The point of your comment was to say Delonte had to play 40+ minutes in playoff games because the Cavs didn't have another ball handler besides him and Mo Williams. That is false. LeBron spends a great deal of time handling the ball and is capable of that. Delonte played 40+ minutes a game in the playoffs because Mike Brown was too stubborn to play Sasha even meager minutes. No, Sasha isn't great and does make mistakes, but he needed to play more and more consistently against Orlando because at 6'8 and 230, he was a decent match-up against Hedo or Rashard. It wasn't because Delonte was a ball handler. It was because Mike Brown was too stubborn to use his bench.

Thats the life of a superstar. If they could persuade Kidd over they are set to win it.
As a Mavericks fan, I have seen the kind of influence that Kidd can have on your team, and its MUCH bigger than the stats shows. After being here for a whole year, the Mavericks went from being one of the lower IQ teams to one of the highest IQ teams in the league. His presence will most definitely make a massive different for the Cavs. A trio of him, Lebron, and Shaq would be scary as .

Does Shaq make Cleveland better than a healthy Boston team? No
Better than the Magic ? No

they need wing help, and maybe another vet or two off the bench.

Now can Mike Brown handle the ego of Shaq? It seems Shaq only meshes well with big name coaches. We all remember the way Van Gundy left Miami.

There is no risk at all. They ship off two players that are either done or don't play. And, Shaq's contract is expiring. What's the risk? Now, it might not be a move that puts the Cavs over the top, but it's not a risky move at all.
Shaq's a $20+ million franchise player contract that's skips games, I think they could have done alot better with $20 million. This is a band-aid move.

Shaq's OK with being second fiddle to LeBron but will he play second fiddle to anybody else? If things aren't going well, Shaq will lay out the blame.

Danny Ferry's done two desperation trades now.

Good for the Lakers, good for the Suns, bad for the Cavs.

You have yet to identify the risk. Saying they could have done better doesn't make the move risky. All of what you said could be true, but it carries no risk. They didn't trade away young talent or even a meaningful draft pick. And, if it doesn't work out, Shaq is off the books after the season.

Where's the risky part you stated in your initial post?

The risk is bad chemistry. This Cavs team made it to the ECF. There is also risk in missing out on other trades. Cavs are set now, they can't make any more huge moves. They have just paid $20 million to a guy who should be a backup.

If Shaq starts demanding touches, they might hit the lotto.

no hate, im just stating the obvious....that shaq is washed up and couldnt even help a team with a 2 time mvp and all stars. Instead of helping, the team turned into the #1 team into the Western Conference to missing the playoffs. Im just laughing at people (Fans and GM's) who think the Big Hypocrisy is the answer to thier problems.

I don't get how this is a risk. Getting Marbury would be a risk. Going into the season with the same roster as this year would be a risk. How is getting 18ppg a risk? I mean the Cavs won 66 games with basically the same guys they will have next year without Shaq. Shaq could sit out the whole regular season and the Cavs would still have a top 3 seed in the East. I don't understand the risk, and it's not like the Cavs are finished making moves.
