hmm.....
Riiiight....
Anyways...
Technically, since the USA did not win the Gold Medal in Basketball at the Olimpics, no team that wins the NBA Championship can be crowned as World Champions. But what about Manu, is he the World Champ?
hmm.....
Riiiight....
Anyways...
Who cares about this?
In those terms, yes...Manu is the only "World Champ" the world has ever seen.
No basketball player has ever won an Olympic Gold and an NBA le in the same year...before last night.
This guy is really, really something special.
The NBA champion is the best team made of literally the best players in the world. If we sent them, they would handily win the Olympics.
The Spurs are the World Champs.
I don 't think so.
The All-Star National Team can easily beat any NBA teams in the leauge.
I thought the Sacramento Kings were working on their 4th straight Real Championship.
I dont' know. I think I agree that the NBA Champs would beat any All-Star National Team out there. The reason the USA Teams don't do so well is because of their lack of time to blend as a *TEAM*. The Spurs are such a well oiled unit, and would be able to take out any All-Star team you could find.
Why do you think our All-star National "Team" lost in the Olympics? You honestly think the other national teams (who rarely have even one player in the NBA) could beat an NBA team?
Building a TEAM is different from having lots of talent. The Spurs are the best basketball team in the world hands-down. The Pistons are right there also.
Not true. No non-US basketball player.
Manu is the 3rd. See Jordan, Michael; Pippen, Scottie.
Tim played in the Bronze medal Olympic team(he's the NBA Finals MVP)
Manu won the Gold medal in Athens and was the MVP of their team and the BB Olympics.
whatever it is...WHO CARES! At LEAST WE DON'T HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT THE .04 BIT AND ABOUT DUNCAN NOT WINNING W/O DROB!
My bad. Still pretty damn impressive company to keep.
Thanks for the info, elephant man!
Didn't they just have a "World Bowl" recently in Europe? It was American-rules football - similar to the Super Bowl. Now I wonder if the winner of that team should play the Super bowl champions for the REAL Worl Boal.
How can Manu be a world champ? He doesn't have a belt!
(Poor taste, I know.)
Yo, just conversation. (Remove stick from ass) thanks guy
Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen win both les too
But they need, David Robinson, MJ, Magic, Bird, Sir Charles, Stockton & Malone and a few little guys to do it
When Manu won the Olympics, no one player on the Team were playing in the NBA
Its arguable that the NBA Champs are the World Champs, I can beleive there are better club teams around the world and the NBA champs could lose to them in a game.
They should do like they do w/futbol(soccer) club teams. Have a friendly for-fun match between the best in Europe and the Best in America.
I highly doubt a foreign club team could bean ANY NBA team, much less the champs.
If they did, those players would be ushered into the NBA pronto...just like Manu was.
Was it Hamburg or Berlin that won??
I know it was a german team....
I know, the Spurs can play the Argentine national team to settle it. Manu will have to be cut in half to make it work, but them's the breaks...
No stick up there...
That just showed what I thought about this, too bad if you don't like it..
This thread was stupid and that's how I showed it..
Try to understand.
This actually illustrates the point perfectly.
Manu with a bunch of Argentines not good enough to make the NBA (except for Scola)
- vs. -
Manu with all NBA caliber players (from across the globe); two of which are all-star caliber, another is an All-Defensive team specialist, and one is a Hall of Famer (top 5 player ever)
I think it's obvious the Spurs would roll. The le team of the NBA can rightly say they are World Champs.

I personally don't like the phrase "World Champs", but it's so commonly used that you can't really fault someone for saying it.
