God Pop has to stop with the man-crush on Fin.
no kidding
God Pop has to stop with the man-crush on Fin.
"He knows he may not start" = "he doesn't know". Hence the need to talk to them. And the need to talk to everyone else he's considering before making a decision.
If all teams can only offer the MLE to Sheed really what else is there? Is all thats left financially speaking is the longevity of the contract or is there anything else?
Because beyond that if he truly wanted to hang with KG and whoever else wouldn't this be done already? It seems to me that this is exactly how the Agent wanted to play it. By saying San Antonio or whoever else has their work cut out for them. He was probably using that as leverage to "up the ante". Sheed probably just wants that extra little reason to choose the alternative? But like I said what else can be offered?
If this is all on a pure relationship level then wow we are in for a ride.
3 Years MLE...that's what it will probably take. And for Tim...it's worth it to go that extra step to get Rasheed.

So I'm watchin PTI right now, and on the bottom on ESPN's ticker is the news that Boston offered Sheed a contract. Is it really necessary to put that on the ticker?. He hasnt signed or agreed to it yet so why is that "news worthy?" Oh of course because it's Boston.

Do the Spurs really pay the luxury tax at a chance for the le or was signing Richard Jefferson a sign Manu will be traded?
John Hollinger (3:41 PM)
They signed off on paying the tax, yes; that's why you see them still pursuing players like Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess with their midlevel.

I love that they only offered him 2 years..
3 year offer from the Spurs should do it...
Now that is something to get excited for.............provided the Spurs would be willing to go 3.
Where it said " 2 years"?
On PTI Bob Ryan from the Boston Globe just said Sheed is exactly what the C's need because last yr they were short on the bench. God I hope the Spurs crush the C's media and fans dreams.
This meeting pretty much went as I expected. They offered Sheed the MLE and he said he would think about it. I don't know why everyone go so worked up about this meeting. Hopefully he sees the situation here and it's benefits over the situation in Boston and makes the right decision.
Oh yeah...offer him 3 years dammit.
read about Rwallace's offer http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130316
I don't see why our FO wouldnt offer 3 years. Why not? If that brings him in for sure, do it. TD & Sheed for the next 3 years should be good enough for maybe 1..or even 2 more ships.
Go back through this thread. There is an article that says it.
The advantage we have is that the organization doesn't seem to care about a quick rebuilding..every member of this organization, the players, and all the fans realize that we're going to have a few rough years after TD retires..
So I would assume we're willing to offer 3..
this team also has some young project big men..Mahinmi, Blair, Splitter..those guys could have an impact and develop into important players in 'Sheed's potential 2nd and 3rd years of the contract..
I would too. A 3 year deal for Sheed would line up neatly with Duncan's contract in a "setting up for capspace in 2012" kind of way.
If we all get together from the forum and have a bake sale, we can give Holt the extra cash to offer him three years instead of Boston's two. Who's withme???????????? Hopefully Sheed rejects the Boston offer!

Sportscenter just kicked off with the "news" that the Celtics offered Sheed a 2 yr deal worth the MLE. Chris Broussard is going to comment on it in a bit....
If we offer him a contract, it won't be on TV anywhere..
ESPN and the NBA will be thinking, "maybe if we don't talk about it, it won't happen"..
Of course it wont be televised...they're hoping he doesnt go to the Spurs! So therefore....let's push the Sheed to the Celtics story now now now!![]()
the rasheed signing won't be televised; it will be twittered ;/
Broussard said we dont have much interest in rasheed and we have more interest in gortat..hmmmm
Chris Broussard just said on Sportscenter that now he thinks Sheed is going to wait this out but ultimately end up in Boston. He said the Spurs are not showing as much interest in Sheed as people may think...and that the Spurs are targeting Gortat with the whole MLE instead. And that Sheed would end up in Boston also because of their "aggressiveness" to get him.
