If Obama lets them, that's his business, just like it was Sarah Palin's. I was just saying that it doesn't comport too well with protectiveness to put your kids front and center after they've already been attacked in the press.
With Obama's kids, this is not so much the case.

Race sensitivity no doubt plays a part, but I'll go out on a limb and say there's not much of a story there.
The sudden, unexpected nature of her selection as VP also has something to do with the disparity IMO. She was a relative unknown, unvetted by even McCain's campaign, so there was intense compe ion for scoops and a chaotic surge of information released all at once.

Maybe you can amplify a little bit.
It is that she chose to do so given her daughter's sensitive condition that I always questioned. I would have thought her motherly instincts would have been to protect her daughter from the inevitable scrutiny, especially given her stated views on the merits of abstinence only education. Instead of changing course and protecting Bristol as time went on, she seemed to parade her around even moreso. She seemed intent on somehow proving her daughter was doing fine by having her make appearances, but instead it just kept her in the public eye and then a viable target as an adult making speeches. She could no longer claim some immunity as Bristol is an adult person who is choosing herself to be a public figure. I have never heard or seen anything about any of the younger kids. I do not even know their names. We all know the Bush twins had their fair share of media attention and they, like Bristol, were adults choosing to act in a manner that kept the public interest.
They haven't gotten knocked up yet.
False...he's been gone after. His wife's been gone after. He and she are also of the black race and while they tried to paint those attacks racist, it doesn't really stick nor will that claim prevent future attacks.
The reason it has not happened is because by and large there is a level of decency that IMHO is pretty much instinctive from beings in a civilized society when it comes to children for the societies continued survival. Deliberately targeting them or considering their deliberate targeting as acceptable pretty much makes you the lowest form of life in a society.
Survival oriented decency. Decency that Sarah Palin has not been shown, because she is a political threat, and because attacking her kids is viewed as an expedient and effective way to force her from the political arena by turning her natural maternal instincts against her and into an advantage for those that wish to see her gone from the political arena, which is a great many liberals.
The people doing this are political extremists, whose political views supercede human decency. Politics is above living in an organized society to them, it's above being a human being to them.
And truthfully, it's a possible indicator of a rather steep decline of organized society in this country. It's definitely an idicator of a society that is fragmenting and on the verge of a cultural split.
More to the point, you take a look round the world, in any country, in any region of the world where children being preferred targets is considered acceptable by it's own culture, and I will show you a hole bearing little or no resemblance to the civilized world and where human life has little or no meaning.
Anyone that considers children a legitimate target, the most innocent of us, of any society, the future of us, of every society, is the absolute lowest element of that society. Whether they are pedophiles or child killers, or abusers...or political extremists.
If they dehumanize these kids, or excuse it, they are worse than the murderer, the thief, the liar, the serial killer, the pros ute, the vagrant, they are basically animals and in fact, inferior to many animals in many ways.
I say this right now, any of these guys that have gone after her kids repeatedly and done so for political gain, anyone that has excused it, they are the bottom rung of this civilization and representative of it's decline. They are far and away and beyond all doubt the bottom rung of politics in this country.
You know sook, I know you consider me to have a rather extremist view on the ME, but really I have my reasons for it...
I see Sunni Islamacists that hole up in school houses, I do not want to understand these people or co-exist with them, they are a societal cancer.
I see a government that considers the legal age for execution to be 9, and I know that I have a seen a government that should never be accepted by anyone.
And finally...when I see a culture that considers it acceptable to indoctrinate their children to strap bombs to themselves, and in fact encourages it with financial reward for the families and propaganda in their cartoons, I know I am looking at culture that is not long for this world. I do not find them the sympathetic party in a conflict, I find them to be the ed in the head party in a conflict, and their cries of their children dying ring a little false to me becuase I know they themselves make their children targets, and the first time they encouraged one to strap a bomb to themself in civillian clothing and detonate it, they made every child in their culture a legitimate and valid military target for those they are at war with. Which is pretty ing stupid if you ask me...it's also renders their chances of victory in that conflict pretty much non-existent.
The culture that safeguards it's women and children is going to win the conflict about 90% of the time, all things being equal, and especially if they are inequal to the benefit of the culture that defends it's young.
So by all means keep going after the children, it draws the lines between the humans and the animals, and makes it clear to me which side I need to be on.
I can't imagine that approcach is going to win many new converts, and the converts it wins aren't the sort you really want to be winning anyway, they're ones that speed up the decline.
