Alright i don't know about favorite cuz movies just don't scare me anymore. I want them to, but the last I can remember that really kept me up at night was EVENT HORIZON-really disturbing movie. But i watched it again recently and wasn't as freaky, i think it's about age. between 10-17 i got scared of a whole lot more stuff than i can now. Otherwise just good horror movies i'd say the shining, nightmare on elm street 1, Saw 1, and hmm, sad ive been thinking for like 10 minutes can't come up with anymore. Horror movies are in a sad state

And the original versions of "Nightmare of on Elm Street" and "Halloween" are perfect horror movies. Those are my personal faves.
can't forget to mention 'Night of the Living Dead'.

I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid but it scared the out of me. It's called Matango.
It is, but it's one of those movies that's only good now because it's the movie that set the bar for other, greater films. I watched Nightmare again last fall for the first time in years and was bored out of my skull. I remember seeing that movie when I was like five and being afraid of Freddy for the looongest ing time.
'Ice Cream Man' starring Ron Howard's ugly brother is a really horrible movie, but I have to admit that I've watched it many times.

Agreed. The Descent is one of the more overlooked and scarier movies in the past few years, if not the scariest.The DESCENT.
Scariest movie in some time
Hostel was pretty good. I thought it did a really good job of giving you a sense of hopelessness for the characters. Hostel 2 was pretty bad though. Especially the goth bathing in blood scene. I wasn't scared or terrified, I just thought it was ing weird.
Event Horizon scared the out of me when I was younger. Not so much anymore but it still has some pretty disturbing moments.
Although it wasn't very popular, I thought the first Texas Chainsaw remake was pretty well done and had me cringing at moments. The second remake was pretty terrible.
Other than that I can't really think of any horror movies that have come out in the past few years that are actually scary. Most of them give you the same ol' sex, gore and death but fail to provide any real thrills. Which is fine actually, that's usually all I expect going into horror movies anymore. If they can come up with a few creative ways to kill off some poor souls than I'm usually satisfied.
It's one of the few remakes that I thought was actually pretty scary. I agree that the second one was weak.

Kinda lost faith in all horror movies...the last one to actually freak me out and keep me interested was Quarantine.
I hope you know that that's pretty much the same movie frenzy....
Quarantine is the same as Rec... it was inspired by REC.. some things were changed..
but you have watched the gayer movie.. without a doubt.

In The Descent, Juno didnt deserve what happened to her, it hurt movie. Jeepers Creepers and The Ring were both really good, but Wrong Turn is the best.The DESCENT.

Jeepers Creepers I & II are both underrated.

Suspiria and Motel . both classics imo
Japanese horror movies are the best I guess. Western horror movies just try to scare people with bloody scenes while Japanese horror movies can destroy your nerves.
I'm surprised no one has mention Psycho ...

The Exorcist (unrated version is so much better)
