This is good news. Personally, I prefered Sheed. McDyess is the better option personality wise, though.
Dice is coming from a situation where there would be no winning. You would be quite the understater if you called what Detroit left on the court in the 09 playoffs "forgettable." Yet in actuality, what McDyess left on the floor made most, if not all, of the other Pistons look silly. Intensely focused, no one doubted Dice came to play against Cleveland despite horrible odds and chemistry. Indeed, its hard to rank Sheed above Dyess if their contributions in their last playoff series together were any indicator of their current ability.
The Spurs have made significant moves this offseason, which all were fearing would not occur. While I believe there was more 'upside' to a Sheed signing, Dyess if healthy is the better bet to deliver consistently, and without worry of character issues. These are perhaps the most important factors of all.
