Still, plugs and wires, over $1000...
OK, what are they? Gold core wires?
I don't care how nice the car is. Tune ups are part of normal maintenance, and that should run you that much money. Sounds like you had Goober work on it!
this is not a car that you work on yourself, or one that you take to some guy named goober. there is a certain amount of maintenance to be expected, and everything being done comes with a manufacturers gaurantee.
all i requested was prayer. and thank you for your understanding and care.
money can't always be the end all........and this is a family member!
double thanks to marini martini!!!!

you wouldn't understand, WC.
let's not pretend.
i say you invest into a horse and carriage, thats the way we be traveling in the future,
I think I do. To me, and any other mechanically inclined person, a car is a car. You're just snooty enough you think it takes more money to get it fixed.
Reminds me of the scene in Doc Hollywood where he didn't want the country mechanic to touch his classic Porsche.
Now I agree, I would never take it to the likes of "Jiffy Lube," for anything. I could see spending $300 to $500 for a tuneup on some cars. $1020 is simply out of line.
Oh wait...
Are you driving the Jay Leno Tank Car? That might cost a bit to replace the spark plugs and wires!

guess which one is your mechanic....

No problemo Clammy!!! It's my specialty to pray over loved family members!![]()

What kind of car is it?
I'd like to know also. Is it so special that you have to overnight ship parts from the UK or something? I mean, if it's a something like a TVR Cerbera, I apologize. I'd love to have one of them.
Take one of them over a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. which are far too common here. I'd go for a Ford GT before the Ferrari or Lamborghini anyway. Tuneup at a Ford dealer won't set you back your firstborn.

I'd love to know what kind of car it is. Over a grand for plugs and wired? That's mechanical rape unless it's a Lotus or a Maserati.
what kind of car is it? i think it's bull that you're trying to justify it by saying that we wouldn't understand. i know some cars aren't the easiest to work on and need specialists from that particular manufacturer to work on them, BUT you haven't told us what kind of car it is and you sound like a talking about how it's a family member. i bet it's some piece of ricer.
@ the whole thread!
Perodua parts are hard to find guys. They require special spark plugs made out of Cambodian goat teeth.
Good luck Clambake!
ha. clambake is getting ripped off and is ashamed to tell us what he drives. not ashamed of what he drives just doesn't want people to see how bad he's being prison pumped from behind in the free world. come on. it's just a car. it's not like youre Batman, clammy. he probably drives an eclipse.
calm down people, it's a v12.
that goat teeth thing is pretty funny.
Well that narrows it down to about 10 cars I can think of. Now, what color is it?
No really I can only think of about 5 cars
exterior or interior?
Exterior of course. As long as the interior isn't black, it's all good![]()
Never too late to resolve those issues with your mother!

Clammy;
Okay black interior, so what color is the exterior??? Do you have an sunroof and tinted windows??? What are you listening to your music on??? Not that this really maters.![]()
OK, so parts and labor are costing 50% more than a V-8. Still doesn't say much. How does that come close to justifying $1020?
Special part... I can see maybe $10 per plug and $200 for a set of wires. That's still $800 in labor.
You know, in the Gen IV Firebirds and Cameros, you have to drop the engine to change the plugs. It still doesn't come close to that. All the V-12's I can think of, you have full access to the plugs. What's so special for $800 in labor?
