    What was it?

    My vote goes to the hoopla surrounding Boston picking up Marbury. He was invisible for most of the season and playoffs, catching fire for one game.

    What other stories looked like they might have an impact but ultimately fizzled?

    Gotta agree w/ the OP on this one. Marbury may still have some left in the tank, but he only showed it in spirts that were few and far between. He just never looked comfortable. He hadn't played on a contender in some time.

    How the Spurs were coming, and they were going to give the Lakers so much trouble, and look out for the Spurs, they added Bonner and Mason, Mason is the new Horry, they always win the le in odd years, the Spurs are so quiet but they're coming, watch out Lakers, they got Drew Gooden, that's all they need, one more big and they'll take out the Lakers, Spurs are the Lakers biggest compe ion. Turns out Duncan and Parker couldn't even get more then one win against the Mavs with HCA, even with Manu they weren't doing .
