The bolded guys aren't as good as Dirk.
You cant be serious about the Big "E".

    Elvin Hayes (1968-1984)

Elvin Hayes won the National College Player of the Year award in 1968, and didn’t miss a beat after being drafted into the NBA. For his first three years in the league, Hayes averaged over 28 points and 16 rebounds per game, a devastating three-year period of dominance. In fact, to this day Hayes is still the last rookie to lead the NBA in scoring.

For his career, Hayes averaged 21.0 points and 12.5 rebounds, numbers that are deflated because he played into the twilight of his career, over the final two years of his career hardly resembling the player he once was.

During his 16-year professional career, Hayes made 12 All-Star teams, six All-NBA teams, won the NBA Rookie of the Year, and took the Bullets to three NBA Finals, winning one of them.

LOL son at you highlighting like 6-7 of those players! ... it truly is hilarious, but so damn pathetic at the same time how much your own homerism has blinded you to reality. honest question though son and seriously answer it honestly ... is the fact that Dirk is white have anything to do with why you hug his nuts and hype him up so much? I have said it over and over, yes Dirk is a damn good player, but my God lol ... one of the best ever? LMAO

Look ... I understand we can argue over maybe 1 or 2 of those guys I listed, but you are truly a complete moron if you think Dirk is better than all of those guys you highlighted. are you ing serious??? Bosh is a toss up right now, but I am willing to guarantee you that 5 years down the road when Bosh has as many years under his belt as Dirk that his numbers will blow Dirk's out the water.
Bosh is everything that Dirk is accused of being - a soft jumpshooter that has never won anything. Dirk's skin color has nothing to do with it. He came within an inch of a championship with his two best sidekicks being Jason Terry and Josh Howard. Between the two of them they have one All Star injury replacement selection between them. Could KG do that? No. Could Bosh do that? No. Could Gasol do that? No.

KG won a le with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Pierce is a 1.5 and Allen is definitely a 2. Dirk would have won a 'chip with those guys too. Gasol got his teeth kicked in by Dirk when they met in the playoffs in 2006. He had a 50-win Grizzly team around him and he couldn't win a single ing game against the Mavs. Trade them straight up for each other and the Mavs still win that series, but they don't sweep the Grizzlies.

Dirk's legacy has been tarnished by Miami and Golden State, but his performance in those series is not as bad as remembered. He put up 29/15 in Game 6 when the Mavs were eliminated by Miami. In Game 5, he matched Wade play for play down the stretch, hitting tough shots from the floor while Wade got bailed out by the refs. I give Miami credit for winning that series and it's definitely true that the Mavs had the le within their grasp and gave it away, but I will not accept anybody who says Dirk played poorly in that series.

Against Golden State, he sucked, no question about it. He put up 19/10 on 38% shooting after going for 25/9 on 50% shooting in the regular season. He was hurt, but Avery Johnson didn't believe in making excuses, so nothing much was ever said about it. If Dirk was black, he wouldn't have the soft Euro tag applied to him. You're not soft if you come back after 10 days on a high ankle sprain to carry your team into the playoffs, an injury that normally takes 6 weeks to heal.

I hope Dirk wins a le someday but I'm not holding my breath. I think it's unfortunate that Miami/Golden State has tarnished his legacy to the point that people think Chris ing Bosh and Pau Gasol are better. He deserved the hit to his reputation for losing to an 8 seed, but c'mon. He's put up 25/11 for his career in the playoffs, and it's not like the playoffs are a rare thing for the Mavs - Dirk has over a full season's worth of playoff games under his belt. He's won 8 series as a #1 guy - the list of his contemporaries who have done better is pretty small. He lost two-time MVP Steve Nash and the Mavs got better. How do you explain that? Paul Pierce is a perimeter-oriented player like Dirk - do you think the Celtics win it all in 2008 with Erick Dampier at C and Josh Howard at the 2-guard?

Putting up inflated stats on a bad team doesn't put you in the top 2-3.
oh yea son thanks for proving my point of how great Paul is ... the fact that he is putting up 21+ points and 11+ assist per game over the last two years on a team full of bull jump shooters is even more proof. Put Paul on the Lakers or Celtics and he would easily be putting up 20+ points and 13+ assist per game.

You are too young to know. He made his name with defense. He is listed on a lot of top 10 PF lists. Here are a few comments.

Nicknamed “Big D” for defense, DeBusschere was a hard-nosed, tenacious forward – one of the game’s all-time best defenders. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in each of the award’s first six years of existence. DeBusschere was average in size at 6’6” and 225 lbs., but he possessed a work ethic that was second to none. During his 12-year NBA career he represented the epitome of the blue-collar basketball star

Debusschere was one of the first great power forwards in the NBA. He had career averages of 16.1 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. He also shot 43.2 percent from the field and 69.9 percent from the free-throw line. He was selected to eight All Star teams in his 12-year career.

He was also selected to one All-NBA team as a member of the second team. However, he was one of his era's best defensive players, as he was selected to six All-NBA Defensive teams, with all of the selections on the first team. Finally, he helped the Knicks win two championships in the 1970s.

Dirk vs. him in a 1 on 1, and Dirk takes a piping hot on his head.

the blind homerism at its full effect ... I get it findog! I said your great white hype isn't one of the best of all time, so now you're going to say our CP3 who only has 4 years under his belt isn't either! lol ... talk to me again 10 years from now whenever Paul has career numbers of 20+ and 11+ per game with a shooting percentage over 50%.

son it would all depend on how many free throws Dirk could flop his way to. hopefully the ref buys his great white hype and gives him every call or he is in trouble!!!

You don't have to fix for me, pea brain. You take away Dirks meaningless points, and all you have is probably the two biggest choke jobs of any team in all of sports. Whats worse is he had the best team in both of those series. He plays NO defense, he's average in boards, and soft.

People tend to also forget that Dirk's Mav team failed to outscore Kobe over three quarters.

    Kobe 62
    Dirks Mavs 61 > 121-63

How is this humanly possible when the Lakers missed the playoffs that year, that's how bad they sucked. Dirk has some landmarks on his resume for sure.
The Lakers made the playoffs that season. They lost to the Suns in 7 games after blowing a 3-1 lead. It's hard to debate somebody who doesn't have full command or grasp of basic facts.

Dirk is not Bill Russell, but to say he plays NO defense is a gross exaggeration. Anybody who makes that claim hasn't seen him play since 2003.

That's my 2009 opinion of Chris Paul. I just get a little tired of the comparisons to Isaiah when he hasn't won and it's not at all clear he's better than Deron Williams. I'm also pretty sure that Zeke wouldn't have let Chauncey Billups drop a 121-63 Hot Carl on him in a first-round series. Zeke was a much more complete player on both sides of the court. The only place Paul matches him is in compe ive zeal.

I hate when people say that it is a toss up between Paul and Williams, when Paul does everything better than Williams. If you want the clearly inferior player, you should take Williams.
