again, props to the spurs for playing a good game, but no way in was it the spurs defense that was stopping the mavs. the mavs stopped themselves with complete dumbassery all night long.

Howard had a hand in his face all night. JJ was forced to do forgettable things. Dallas was lost on offense and couldn't find their rhythm because the Spurs were active and clogged the lane. They played great pick and role d too.

I saw him in summer league and he looked solid...but Mahinmi also looked solid, as did James Gist last year. He's probably better than Barea, but Kidd is a wide open lane on defense for 35 MPG, not to mention he's not bringing offense. 8-9 apg doesn't make up for his 5 points every game.

That's why i think the PG spot is a biggest hole with Dallas.

He scored the first 9 points in the Hornets game a few games ago. He's good, just not entirely ready yet.

I went back and watched the game again on the DVR and the Spurs missed WAY MORE uncontested shots than the Mavs. Almost every MISSED shot the Mavs put up was a contested shot. Bogans had Howard flustered early, McDyess gave Dirk problems, forcing him to shoot CONTESTED fade aways. Event he driving left layups Dirk made were contested. Terry played well but most of his shots inside were TOUGH CONTESTED shots that he made. When he got free on the perimeter he knocked them down. Barea had George Hill and Mason in his head the whole game. And Kidd was embarrassed defensively by Manu on the perimeter in the 2nd quarter.

To the Mavs credit, they were playing solid D early in the game against the Spurs but they didn't maintain the intensity and keep contesting shots the way the Spurs did. The Spurs had a lot of OPEN looks from 3 in the last 3 quarters.
