Who happens to be better than Jordan, Kobe, Wade and any of those other scrubs named in this thread so far.

Apparently he is. Anyone capable shredding THE GREAT Piston defense is comparable to MJ.

His prime? Shaq hasn't scored over 22.9 ppg since that time (He averaged at least 27 a game in his prime and that was with Kobe). His defense had a fall-off from 2001-02 to 2002-03 so drastic that the Lakers were under .500 in December and considering the Lakers didn't have a power forward, they were bounced in the second round as defending Champions.
I remember that. We kicked them out.
But a year later they were hungry again. They got Payton and Malone. They did make it to the Finals again, didn't they?
And Shaq certainly had enough to win another ring two years later with Wade.
That's what you do when you're Duncan or Shaq at the top of your game. You dominate.

Dumb Kobe wanted to be the man and instead of playing inside out, he was chucking up bricks.

I really don't care how good the Pistons defense was. MJ would have shredded them to pieces. I mean, that series didn't even make it seven games. How could you claim the best ever didn't even at least force 7 games in the Finals?

    Sports writers.

Yeah, it was sports writers. I'm sure it had nothing to do with his 33.6 PPG at 52% shooting, 6.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.8 steals. Nope, it was all sports writers.

And FWIW, MJ didn't finish games the Bulls were leading by 15+ to pad stats like Kobe just did.

D-Whistle > Kobe right now and if you switch the rosters that would be more widely accepted.

However, Kobe has 4 rings, D-Whistle has 0.

yeah, then the next year and in 2006, Dwyane Wade shredded and took a huge dump all over your Piston defense. Wade shot 70% in the ECF in 2006 I think?

    sure.
He shot .606 in 2006...with Flip Saunders as coach.

Some people also forget that there was no hand-check bull rules back when MJ was playing. It's a guard game now, but back then big men ruled.

And Steve Nash is as good as Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson.

BTW, Kobe just recoded his 100th 40+ points game... 73 more to go before he can catch up with MJ. Better hurry padding those stats Kobe!

You really just compared MJ to Steve Nash?

If MJ didn't deserve it in 1990, who the did?

MJ was just a one dimensional slasher who couldn't shred teams from inside and out. Actual statistics and evidence are irrelevant.

First of all, we're talking about 1988-89, when Jordan was 26, and he didn't win MVP--Magic Johnson did.

No, I just compared him to the other two point guards with multiple MVPs. Postseason awards mean nothing.

I'll interpret the fact you just dodged that question as, "MJ deserved it, I'm talking out of my ass."

    Magic
    Kareem
    Wilt
    Shaq

    all better than him.

You want stats? 27-98 from downtown. That's .276 from downtown.

So everything else is irrelevant, 3 point shooting alone makes Kobe > MJ. Gotcha. The fact nowhere near as many 3 point shots were attempted when MJ played doesn't matter.

Apparently not when someone with 1 finals MVP is comparable to someone with 6.......or is that something to do with sportswriters as well?

Interpret it anyway you want. The fact is, he didn't win MVP.

He hasn't played in 6 NBA Finals and he had Shaq on his team.
