    No Shaquille O'Neal or Pau Gasol. Kobe needs a player like that to be the Kobe that can dominate games. Once they got Gasol he changed the whole dynamic of that ballclub, they started playing better defense, and it freed up Bryant. They got a championship mentality overnight, literally.

    A few decades from now when Kobe is inducted into the NBA hall of fame, most of the basketball fans still alive will always remember that

    1) he airballed the lakers out of the playoffs his first few years in the league
    2) rode the most dominant force in the league's coattails to three championships
    3) Cried like a little when his team got eliminated in WC semi's
    4) didn't even make the playoffs his first year as "The Man"
    5) purposely did not take a shot in the 4th quarter of an elimination game in year 2 of being "The Man"
    6) had to cheat to get himself a franchise big man to play with
    7) still got blown out by 60 points in an NBA finals game after that player joined
    8) Finally got his fourth ring way after Shaq and Duncan
