Miami Eyes LeBron, Would Settle for Bosh or Amare
    SportingNews

The Miami Heat are in an odd predicament. They have enough cap room to sign two max players this summer, yet Dwyane Wade is a free agent and wants proof the franchise is doing everything in its power to improve. With that in mind, they’re now coming right out into the open with their plans.

    From the Miami Herald:

Two people who spoke to the Heat said LeBron James is clearly the outside free agent most coveted by the Heat, but Miami does not want to risk losing out on other targeted stars by waiting too long. Re-signing Dwyane Wade remains the No. 1 priority.

"They’re going to get a feel for who they have the best shot at and will craft their strategy accordingly,” a source close to the Heat said. "They will pursue more than one guy. James is their top choice, but if they get a yes from Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire, I’d be shocked if they told either to hold on so they can wait on LeBron”—unless Miami has strong reason to believe James is coming. "If they get one of those three, they would feel confident they can keep Wade. Their biggest anxiety is losing Wade.”

First things first: the idea of LeBron and Wade together is absolutely terrifying. One of the article’s sources compares them to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, with James as a sort of evolutionary Pippen and Wade playing the role of the young, explosive MJ. New York and New Jersey have always been the first teams mentioned when it comes to LeBron, but it’d be hard to turn down a pairing of this magnitude.

That said, the difficulty here for Miami is what it’s always been: James, Bosh, and Stoudemire are unlikely to go to Miami if Wade’s not there, but Wade might not stay unless one of those players says he’s on his way to the Heat.

One positive for Miami is that all four of these players know each other quite well from Team USA duties (Olympics and otherwise). It’s easy to believe they’d discuss their plans with each other, especially if the Heat stand as a legitimate option. On top of that, the city of Miami obviously has its positives even without Wade: Florida’s lack of state income tax, South Beach, and good weather.

But with the summer of 2010 having been hyped since the summer of 2010, it’s hard to believe any of these superstars would want to end up in a situation roughly analogous to Wade’s current lone wolf routine. When you’re promised a hover car, it’s hard to settle for a Ferrari.

It's easy to do if they really want that to happen, as players. Don't take max money. But you know neither would do that so it's just a pipedream.

Which is good. Because if they're willing to take less money. Bosh/Amare plus Wade and LeBron?

Yeah, call me in 10 years when they retire, or if 2/3 are injured for the playoffs.

sons Miami has to be the best city in the NBA to attract players. South Beach and thousands of Vida Guerra's running around in next to nothing.

    + 1

LA is a dumphole compared to Miami. Sheesh.

We'd be happy with Lebron but that's very unlikely. Id take Amare and Wade back though.

    That is all

PS: I don't think Miami gets Lebron, plain and simple. Their main target should be first and foremost Chris Bosh, Amare is scrub compared to Bosh, especially when Miami doesn't have Steve Nash creating everything.

Miami is setup nice. They can't get two max FAs in addition to bringing Wade back, but they can certainly get one even without having to sacrifice Haslem.
