    well is it me?
It just seems like this years we miss more than we make, especially tony, hill or mason
It has come to a point that i don't even expect our team to get extra points when there is a 3 second defense called r a tech is called on another player

The only one i feel comfortable taking the tech foul shot is manu right now

I was too before the last 2 games : 4/9 FT (44%) for Manu.
Before the last 2 games, Manu was 114/128 (89%)

I'm not talking about FT % in general. Im talking strictly technical foul shots .
It just seems like the guys who are taking the tech foul shots are shooting well below their average FT%
And its mainly tony, hill and mason that i noticed who are relatively good free throw shooters

A glitch nothing else. This will go away in a matter of time.

    Nothing to worry about.

I noticed that too, by my estimate from about the last 10 we've only hit about 5 but not too big a deal as FT% in general.

Compared to the 73.4% they shoot regularly, it's not terribly far off, especially considering the small sample size.

Not excusing it, but technical free throws seem typically harder because a) you're in the spotlight on the line, b) you only get one, so less rhythm, and c) more pressure since they're almost like bonus points. Those things considered, one would almost expect it to be lower.

You can't really compare it to the 73% because the technical FTs are generally taken by your best free throw shooters..so there's no Duncan/Blair and whoever else to throw the %s off..

Your other points are valid though, it's possible..

    Touche.

Maybe we should shoot our techs Arcade Style...with the basket moving back and forward.

the bigger question is why the spurs suck in free throw shooting in general. they rank 26th in free throw shooting behind bottom of the barrel lottery teams. spurs would most likely have a couple more wins if they just make their freakin' free throws. usually the percentages are skewed by bigmen who can't shoot but duncan makes a respectable 73%. keys to winning playoff games are defense, limiting turnovers, and making your free throws during crunch time.

for the technical foul ones, i think it's because the spurs only have one really good free throw shooter in ginobili. when he's not available to shoot the tech, someone like hill, mason, or parker will have to take it and they are just decent ft shooters for guards. maybe it's a league wide phenomenon. someone should check the numbers for other teams since i don't know how.

Manu reached 90% from the stripe this season, he's down to 86% now though, which isn't his career high anymore

Duncan has gone off a cliff lately. The "hitch" is back in his shot, leaving (usually) the first one short and flat. He was shooting SO well, and now it's like he's back to four or five years ago.

I think it's much more than just the tech FTs. It's endemic, and it's hurting us in close games.

Am I the only one having difficulty reading and understanding this post? It seems like young folks today cannot put complete sentences and punctuation together.

i think you're right. i never saw any stat about it but i have the same feeling about technical foul FT for the spurs.

and i would clearly include manu in this strange thing. i even feel like he could be the one whose % drop the most between FT overall and tech foul FT.

but again, that could be a misleading feeling. not sure.

ok londtimespursfan i know i may have a few typos and punctuation errors in my post but it doesnt take a genius to figure out what im saying. It seems like everyone else was able to comprehend just fine

    but just for u

Spurs suck at making tech foul shots.
Tech foul shots are taken by the best FT shooters, so there should b no reason y they are shooting 65.6% on their tech FT, which is lower than their average FT% as a team
Spurs averge FT% is 73% ,which includes our bad freethrow shooters (Duncan, Blair)
So if u take the average FT% of the players taking the tech foul shots only(tony, hill, mason, manu) i'm sure that 73% would b way up
Therefore i dont understand y the spurs are so awful at shooting tech foul shots
And out of the four players listed above that shoot the tech foul shot on our team, I only feel comfortable with manu taking them
    the end
