@ this thread. It is quickly becoming the best thread in club history. It's like the woman of the forum finally got fed up with the 23,432,234 "I'd Hit It" threads and are getting revenge.

I think the guys are getting a raw deal in this thread. The truth is, girls are just as picky as guys ... if not moreso. No female on the planet thinks 100% of guys are worth getting to know. In fact, most guys will go for a larger percentage of the population than women. Women know what they want and don't deviate as much as guys do.

I really think that girls are actually more guilty of what they are complaining about in this thread. At least guys are usually consistent. If there is a girl that guys find ugly and/or annoying, she could achieve whatever she can in life and guys will still feel the same way. Most of them wouldn't change their opinion of the girl if she become a millionaire or was the first lady or walked on the moon. Guys will stick with their first impression.

Now on the other hand, if there's some guy who girls wouldn't give the time of day to ... and suddenly he becomes rich or famous, it's suddenly "OMG he's sooooooooooooooooooo hot OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111 *swoooooooon*". It's still the same guy that wasn't given the time of day, but because he achieved something, suddenly he's wanted. It doesn't matter if that guy is ugly, fat, short, balding or what have you. Girls will go after him.

Oh and I find it funny that people think that Dove started this ad to do anything other than make money. There's a freaking 400 post thread about it in a Spurs forum. Obviously they did it to gain attention and it's working. Believe me, if in their trial runs the ad hurt sales, they would have scrapped it faster than it took the anorexic girl they hired to replace the "real women" to eat their grape for dinner.

What women need to understand is they are fighting each other. A woman's biggest enemy is another woman. Guys don't care enough. Plus the hardest critic on any girl is there self. Every girl on earth goes through stages where they think they are ugly or fat or whatever. I've never met a girl who thought they were pretty 24/7.

Well those she listed are not the top selling magazines overall. She listed the top selling ones that would be considered "men's" magazines and "women's" magazines, I guess.

As far as I know, the top selling magazines overall are:

    1. Readers Digest
    2. TV Guide
    3. Better Homes and Gardens
    4. National Geographic
    5. Good Housekeeping

Spurschick, you seem upset that men place so much value on a women's looks. Yet when we were at the AlamoDome celebration, you, Jekka, and RashoFan were going down the Spurs roster and naming which players that you guys would "hit". So, were you all basing that on personality? Because as far as I know, none of you know any of the Spurs. So I'd think you were basing it on looks.

I'm not meaning to call you out. But you are coming across as a little judgemental in this thread when guys post pictures of hot chicks and say they want to "hit" it or do other things that base women solely on looks.

Weren't you three women doing the same thing?
Obviously, I have a big, fat sig of a guy I think is hot. From what I've seen of Manu, he seems like a nice guy... but for all I know he could be a complete ass. I know the guy can certainly play basketball.

I already said that I have absolutely no problem with guys thinking women are hot and saying so. I do, however, take offense to them referring to them as " es" or "pussy" - and I'm talking about any woman, whether she be a supermodel or an "average" Dove model. Men are men and, while they may appreciate all women and love their wives, girlfriends, etc., they aren't made of wood and will always find someone on the cover of Maxim attractive.

Obviously I had a bad experience with a guy who flat out admitted that he was dumping me for a hot chick, so yes, I'm a bit judgemental. Sue me.

Yeah I realize that, but none of those magazines are the top selling magazines overall.

Here's the top selling magazines. There's two AARP magazines ahead of those five I listed.

10 to 1 says most women think a man who cheats is an asshole while the woman who cheats had a reason.
No way, cheaters deserve whatever they have coming, regardless of whether they're male or female. There's no excuse for it, especially if you're married and cheat. (**cough Kobe Bryant)

    Top selling men's magazines:

    2. Maxim
    3. FHM

    Top selling women's magazines:
    1. In Style
    2. Cosmo
    3. Vogue

And which magazines have the more emaciated looking super model types on the covers?

Kinda like fashion shows...those aren't meant to impress men.

That's subscriptions purchased via the Internet. If you look at a list of actual circulations, those are not the top three magazines among men. Sports Illustrated beats them all.

Cosmo has by far the most airbrushed women of any magazine... Playboy comes close, but Cosmo even managed to make Gwyneth Paltrow look like a double D.

No, I really did want to find out if people found this ad offensive as some of the people in the media did.

Yeah, it got a little off track, but I have stated many times in this thread that it was not meant to be a 'man bashing' thread. I asked for honest answers and I got them.

The I'd hit posts don't bother me. If they did, I certainly wouldn't be hanging out in a forum that's mostly men..

More the point is that there are very few threads here calling women " es" and "pussy". That's not SpursChick's issue, even though she now says that's her main problem. In the early pages of this thread, she was complaining about the "Man Commandments" thread (which had nothing of the sort) and she was also saying that men base everything on looks, blah, blah.

The fact is that if some men base everything on looks, so do some women. And it's every single person's right to determine what qualities are important to them. I know that if LJ was ugly, no matter how much I liked his personality, charm and intelligence .. I wouldn't have married him.

Oh really? Well, what if they girl was some ordinary, average looking girl, who just happened to be about 100 pounds overweight. What if she then went on a diet or whatever, achieved her ideal weight and got the body of Angelina Jolie......you're saying guys would still stick with their first impression of her now? Even though her personality didn't change, her intelligence didn't change, just her appearance.

I agree that women are just as guilty of it as men are. I even admitted so earlier and said that I too judge guys by their looks the first time I see them. I don't expect guys to look like Brad Pitt or whatever, but I'll be honest and say that I've never looked twice at a guy who was say 5'2, or a guy who weighed 400 pounds, or a guy who's extremely skinny with big glasses or whatever. I know that's superficial of me and I don't blame guys , I blame a lot of that on conditioning that I've gotten ever since I was a kid from Tv, Movies, and ads that bombard us (and a tiny part of it is blamed by my own superficiality).

On the other hand, things such as intelligence and personality must also factor in. See? That's the difference. When I was younger and in high school or junior high, I didn't see this. Hence the constant depression that a lot of young girls, such as SW's daughter, are faced with.

And sure Dove is obviously trying to make some money off their campaign---they are a business and this is corporate America. I just think that along with that aspect they are trying to sell something more---a new ideology that teaches women to accept what they are---and of course use Dove products in the process! Obviously they have a lot of critics who are against it, yet I still give them credit for trying to do something that sets them apart from the typical norms of society.
