It took 2 broken fingers and a sprained ankle for Kobe to sit out.

    Nobody else comes close.

I'm hoping he sits down tonight in SLC...

It's the land where fouls are forgotten and I'm sure there is going to be some slapping and grabbing of the injured finger. It would serve him well to sit this game out and the ASG to heal more. Let the rest of the team get more and more in-synch for a future run during the playoffs.

I agree. Because he Lakers beat the Spurs/Blazers they can afford a loss; but they can't afford not having a healthy Kobe to finish the year.

Kobe needs to let that broken finger and ankle heal up.

You have to understand that the FG% is not the issue with Kobe. Its his desire to simply stray away from the offense and focus on isolations and making highlight plays.

Kobe's much more effective at 24 points a game and focusing on being a playmaker and putting a bit more effort on defense.

Kobe's just a dumb great athlete. People talk about his smarts and all, but I honestly dont see that. If Kobe is smart, he will utilitze the strengths of his teammates.

Lebron's the perfect example of what im talking about. Mo Williams goes down and what did Bron do? He settled for less scoring and involved his teammates. he's averaging a ridiculous 10 APG since Mo went down, and Oh, he's leading the Cavs to a 12 game winning streak.

Kobe injures his fingers, what happens? Dude shoots 30 times a night making 30% of it while his teammates watch him chuck it away lol.

Odom is inconsistent on the Lakers and he averages 31.2 minutes. So that bull about Odom not playing with Kobe, you can cross that out of the window. And what a coincidence he stepped up when Kobe, the one with a 33.1% usage rate (Great, what a ballhog, the offense stops and Kobe uses up 1/3 of his team's posession while assist rate actually dropped), was out, Odom played his best ball because he gets to handle the ball more and play better. Coincidence? I think not, because if you get more touches, there is a higher chance to put up some stats. I maintain that Kobe is very lucky to win a championship being the extremely selfish player he is.

Sorry, Laker fan not only fails at math, but simple logic and statistics prove Kobe is a ballhog, destroying all of his opinions. Before you on me, and call me out to say that LeBron James has a 33.9% usage rate (just for reference), note that he was playing point forward/guard because his point guards are out and that he has a higher assist rate than Kobe "I hog the ball because MJ is my goal" Bryant.
You want to talk numbers then we can talk numbers. Of course, as I have mentioned many many times, you dont get desire, determination, hustle, leadership etc when talking stats. But anyway, just for you and all the haters who are spewing how much better the players are without Kobe and use Gasols numbers against the Spurs as your proof.

    Scoring: season -- SA game

    Kobe Bryant 22.4 .461 -- N/A
    Andrew Bynum 10.7 .568 -- N/A

    Pau Gasol 12.4 .519 -- 20 .400
    Ron Artest 9.8 .428 -- 16 .375
    Lamar Odom 8.6 .444 -- 13 .461
    Shannon Brown 6.5 .454 -- 13 .230
    Jordan Farmar 6.6 .437 -- 7 .714
    Derek Fisher 6.6 .387 -- 9 .666
    Josh Powell 3.5 .350 -- 3 .000
    Luke Walton 2.6 .417 -- 3 .333
    Sasha Vujacic 2 2.0 .414 -- 3 1.0

    Adam Morrison 2.9 .377 -- N/A
    Didier Ilunga-Mbenga 2.0 .458 -- N/A

33.1 shots lost from kobe and drew

    gasol +7.6 -.119
    artest +6.2 -.053
    odom +4.4 +.017
    brown +6.5 -.224
    fisher +2.4 +.279
= 27.1 shots above average for season for a negative shooting % of -0.100

6 of 9 players shot worse than their season average. Are you kidding me? Gasol who complains in the media (a definite no no among the haters) about touches gets almost 8 more simply because Kobe and Drew arent playing and his % goes down? I thought the offense was running so much smoother without Kobe. How does the shooting % of the MAJORITY of the team go down when everything is so much better and the ball is being distributed? Go figure!

    Assists: season -- SA game

    Kobe Bryant 4.6 --
    Andrew Bynum 1.2 --

5.8 assists lost from kobe and drew

    Pau Gasol 3.5 -- 8
    Ron Artest 3.1 -- 4
    Lamar Odom 3.6 -- 3
    Shannon Brown 1.3 -- 3
    Jordan Farmar 1.8 -- 1
    Derek Fisher 2.5 -- 0
    Josh Powell 0.5 -- 0
    Luke Walton 1.2 -- 1
    Sasha Vujacic 0.5 -- 0

    gasol +4.5
    artest +.9
    odom -.6
    fisher -2.5
    brown +1.7
    farmar -.8
= 3 assists above average for season

So Gasol, Artest, and Brown basically take the assists left over in Kobe and Drews absence. How does the overall shooting % go down if were all assist happy? Supposedly the ball was moving so much better since it was out of the ballhogs hands. Yet, why did the group only gain 3 assists of the 5.8 left by kobe/bynum? Why if the offense is moving so great and not stagnated by the chucker did this group not get 10+ more assists than their average? Go figure.

    Rebounds: season -- SA game

    Kobe Bryant 5.3 --
    Andrew Bynum 8.2 --

13.5 rebounds lost from kobe and drew

    Pau Gasol 11 -- 19
    Ron Artest 4.5 -- 5
    Lamar Odom 9.9 -- 10
    Shannon Brown 2.0 -- 1
    Jordan Farmar 1.7 -- 2
    Derek Fisher 2.3 -- 1
    Josh Powell 1.7 -- 2
    Luke Walton 1.4 -- 4
    Sasha Vujacic 1.1 -- 1

    gasol +8
    artest +.5
    odom +.1
    fisher -1.3
    brown -1.0
    farmar +.3
= 6.6 rebounds above average for season

Only Gasol rebounded at a higher rate. All others were basically in their season average range. Gasol if you remember had 17 to 19 rebounds over several games even with the cancer playing earlier in the year. Oh look, Drew didnt play and gasol grabbed his rebounds. Go figure.

As for Odom. You said he played so much better. Yet look. He only shot .017 better than his season average. Yet look. His assists were lower than his season average by .6 assists. Rebounds? Wow... Lamar got 10 which is soooo much better than his 9.9 season average. He played the same way he's always played.

.... and you make a comment like "Odom played his best ball because he gets to handle the ball more and play better. Coincidence? I think not, because if you get more touches, there is a higher chance to put up some stats. I maintain that Kobe is very lucky to win a championship being the extremely selfish player he is."?

I had some free time while twiddling my thumbs at work!

Should I create some stats showing how many of those shots Kobe chucks are after being passed the ball from another in a panic late in the clock?

Some people don't understand that missing shots = no assists. Anyone who watched the game could tell you the ball movement was better than when Kobe "ballbog" Bryant was playing. The Lakers were just missing their easy shots, unlike Kobe who forces up some of the most stupid shots ever.

    Pau Gasol 13.9 WS
    Kobe Bryant 12.7 WS
    Lakers 30-7 with Pau
    Lakers 10-6 without Pau

    Beat that!

Seriously now. Use your brain or what little bit of one you have. You are taking away 35 points, 6 assists, and 13 rebounds with Bryant and Bynum gone. If Gasol and Odom, clearly the next best players on the Lakers don't take up that slack then who is?

Facts are facts. You pointed out earlier after the Spurs game that Odom was playing so much better without Kobe and it showed in his stats. I clearly showed you the numbers that say different. You have no argument other than to say Kobe is a ballhog. BRILLIANT!!!

I show you that assists and rebounds were basically the same and where the lost ones due to Kobe and Drews absence came from. Your reply is well they just missed the shots? Well then... if they "just missed the shots" then they DIDNT play better without Kobe. So thank you for supporting my points.

Why do you guys care so much about the Lakers and Kobe? Seriously. Why do you go to these extremes? Are you so butthurt that some player you don't like gets attention that you feel the need to obsess about said player? Makes no sense to me. I personally cannot stand KG. I may make a post here and there in a thread about his ness and move on. How pathetic it would be should I feel the need to create thread after thread, post after post, about KG. He's not worth the time. Apparently Kobe is... to you.

It really has to be sooo sad to be you...

You didnt answer any of the questions.

I'm not butthurt at all. Im a Laker fan and I root and stick up for them. I certainly realize Kobe shoots too much sometimes. I also realize Gasol can disappear and be a pussy for stretches. That Bynum gets lost. Etc etc. The Lakers are at their best when Kobe takes around 20-22 shots and everybody plays their role. Often, Many of the supporting cast depend too much on him and don't fulfill their roles and that is where my "clock" comment came from. PJ and Gasol even commented on such in the same interviews that the "not getting my touches" quotes came from but hey, well ignore those.

You guys make it ALL about Kobe and thats what you do. It's ok. Your butthurt and obsessed with a player thats not even on the team you root for. We all get it. It's not like you and the miami/chris/harlems aren't the laughing stock of forum. We all know you are.

Funny... I haven't heard one word how the Lakers are playing so much better since Bynum went out. Oh so odd.

Laughing stock status given by a Laker/Kobe fan? Figures. You guys can't even read a sentence completely without grasping a simple concept of a sentence. Sorry, you guys are not the favorites to win the LOB, the Cavs are. Laker/Kobe fan = internet gangsters of the NBA. Just because my favorite team sucks means I can't talk basketball? Kori and timvp should close down Spurstalk then.
    Gosh this is soooo easy.

Lakers odds to win LOB 2/1
    Cavs 5/2

Do you honestly think it's only Laker fans who see the absurdity of your Kobe bashing? Think again.

Honest question. Give me an honest answer. Have either of you actually played the game? And I am not talking schoolyard or gradeschool. Have you ever played on a team? High School? College? Semi Pro? Pro?
Give me the genetics of an American or something, and maybe I would play in the US. Singapore is never thought of to be a sports country and short people don't get a chance to play basketball at any level. It is the situation. But your question has nothing to do with Kobe and my Spurstalk trolls still have more credibility than you have.
