    Except Landry has All-Star potential.

Damn, T-Mac's massive $23M expiring should have been enough to get a Martin level player, especially in today's economy-conscious NBA. But to throw in Landry, thats a huge coup for the Kings.

Not really. I love Landry, and he is a great high energy guy, but I understand why we made this trade. As good as Landry is on offense he is below average on defense. I've watched every Rockets game for the past three seasons, and he gives back just as many points as he scores. He is either to short to stop anyone from scoring around the basket or out of position on defense. His rebounding is also below average. The reason why Scola is starting is because you can expect 15/10 from him just about every night. It's not like Landry is a spring chicken either seeing as Scola (at 30) is only 2 years older than he is.

With Martin and Armstrong coming in we gain a scorer, and a legit 7 foot shotblocker/rebounder to protect the basket. This trade also adds depth to our bench (Battier and Hayes take there rightful positions) which takes pressure off of Ariza, allowing him to move to his natural position at SF where he can be more effective (thank God). Martin can also create his own shot which is something this team desperately needed (we were asking way to much of just Aaron Brooks). Both of these players are younger than Landry as well. I will miss Carl, but from a team standpoint this makes us better. I was like WTF at first until I thought about what this team needs, and this trade actually helps us out in both areas, so I'm all for it.

I'm sorry but that might be the most ridiculous thing ever posted on ST. Has Rocket Fan not watch Hilton Armstrong play? He might be the worst player in the NBA. He's not going to be starting for the Rockets. Once his contract runs out, he'll be out of the NBA. Armstrong was thrown in the deal just to match salary.

Overall, it wasn't a horrible deal for the Rockets. Martin is a damn good scorer who, if healthy, gives the team the first option the Rockets desperately needed. Like I said earlier, adding Martin also likely makes Ariza much better.

But this isn't any type of steal. Landry is a fantastic role player. He likely won't blossom into a star or anything but he's easily the best bench bigman in the league. He was instrumental in the Rockets staying afloat and provided a lot of that heart and grit that made the team overachieve.

If Martin stays healthy, if Ariza shines in a complementary role and if the Rockets can find a quality big to replace Landry, this trade could turn out to be a good one. But it's pretty risky and, no, Armstrong isn't that quality big

It's still a lateral move at worst but could turn out to be a lot better since Martin will play off Yao next season. Then if that doesn't work Yao's contract will expire and we can go in a different direction. Calm the down.
oh so now it will be Kevin martin missing games with Yao next season instead of mcgrady!!!

    Yay!

What the , Houston!?! I wouldn't trade Landry for Martin straight up, much less give away McGrady's expiring too. LMAO if Sacramento gets the deal done with the Knicks for Hill and the draft picks now.
if they get the knicks deal, people need to start a riot. Morey isn't at fault here though, its our cheap ass ing ownder.

We will see once he gets to Houston. I want to see how he fits into our system before I call him . Besides, he looked ok his first year when NO was winning. A change of scenery may be exactly what he needs to give a .

This is the man rocketfan worships. Time to turn Kevin Martin into the #1 and Ariza as his side-kick

This trade is madness. Rockets have been shrewd for quite a few years and now we have this? Maybe there is something else coming up but as it stands this is a heinous crime by Morey.

who is the better player? martin by far. who is more worthwhile to the team that already has good scoring options in ariza, brooks, landry, and scola? landry by far. if brooks is going to become a great scorer, something i think he has the potential to do, like a better shooting allen iverson, he cant have kevin martin there. on the other hand, kevin martin has the potential to be like reggie miller in his 30's. secondary scorer that can come through with big shots and points when you need it. he was averaging 30 a game on limited shots with tyreke in the lineup before his injury. i think if landry is included the deal is dumb, but houston may still make the playoffs.

So let me get this straight... The Rockets wanted to get rid of their overpaid, injury prone shooting guard. So they traded him for another overpaid, injury prone shooting guard? And just to make sure this deal got done they threw their best player in for good measure. Epic fail.

If this goes down props to Sac. Their mission ever since last offseason was to get tougher - there were too many pussies on the team.

    Landry certainly adds toughness.

With Casspi also playing well this might make Nocioni available.
