hasnt China created an alternate market with US bonds?

The reasons are many. For one thing, few other countries have debt markets large enough to support the level of investment China needs to make. The U.S. debt market is larger than the three next largest combined.
thats pretty much what my mac econ professor at UT told us. the world market is a giant puzzle, and each country plays its own part. China produces, US offers services and consumes, etc etc. It all fits, and everybody is benefitting.
