6th seed. The Spurs owned the Hornets with Paul and in the playoffs.
Paul didn't play in two of those games, so asterisks need to be given out.

I don't know why you're so happy for you team to get bounced out in the first round by the Mavs or Nuggets.

This is about the Hornets sucking and the Mavs losing to them. Stay on topic and please don't deflect.

If the Spurs played the Hornets they would advance. LOL living through the Mavs to have a shot at the Spurs.

The key word being if. The Hornets aren't going to be in the playoffs, and the Spurs won't be facing them.

I don't have to live through the Mavs. I'm hoping the Hornets get a good pic in the draft and dump some bad contracts. Your Spurs, on the other hand, are old and they have Jefferson's contract weighing them down.

Peja with a nice early termination option

Key word hoping. Hornets only have a small shot at a good pick in the draft. Spurs are still in better shape than the Hornets long term.

Not really. Hornets will dump 23 million after next season and will get a decent pick in this year's draft. Not sure how good the Spurs will be if Manu is gone. Plus Duncan isn't getting any younger.

You should hope they trade CP3 for young talent/ Draft picks and go from there.

Hornets will still be at 45M in payroll with needing to extend the youngsters & no shot at a le with a core of Paul, West and Okafor.

Spurs can still easily trade and make moves to actually contend. CP3 just wasting away.

CP3 or Collison will get traded eventually in a couple of seasons allowing them to dump salary, acquire picks, or get more talent. Plus when Manu is gone, the Hornets will finally have an advantage at SG with Thornton. Only question will be acquiring frontcourt players.

Also, after next year, the Spur will be at 28M with nice young players like Hill, Blair and Malik.

A few days ago I would have agreed with you. Right now... I wouldn't be so sure. The Spurs are playing very well, we were just a pretty bad call away from beating two very good teams b2b and on the road. If Parker gets back at a good level the Spurs could make some noise, specially seeing that all the other West teams aren't playing particularly well.

It is surprising see the Spurs play well of late. Tonight was a big win for them on the road. No way OKC could afford to lose a home game this late in the season against another Western playoff team. This will plant the seeds of doubt in the minds of Joklahoma nation.

CP3 should just sit out the rest of the season or come off the bench..Hes just gonna mess up any rhythm the team had by coming back. Dallas already peaked a few weeks back, they been looking pretty bad lately.

Chris Paul is wasting away at 24.

The Spurs have an aging Timmy, a not so young anymore Tony Parker, a Manu Ginobili who is old and is not a guarantee to resign, and Jefferson eating away the Spurs' salary. What is the Spurs' core? A soon to be 34-year old Tim Duncan and Tony Parker?

Peja's contract expires next season. Mo Pete's contract expires next season.

Are the Spurs going to pull a rabbit out of their ass and sign a big name free agent to "contend" next season, like they did last off-season? Or is Blair going to become the next Tim Duncan?

Sons, the Spurs have RJ coming off the books the same time as Peja, so how is he eating away?

Spurs are also much closer to a le with an aging Tim and TP than the Hornets are with CP3 and West. Hence the constant owning of the Hornets and a continued higher playoff seed this year. God bless.

Then in just 2 short years, the Spurs only have 28M on tha books. Still much better short and long term situation than the Hornets.

I think the gap would have closed if CP3 would have stayed healthy. Hornets basically had a brand new team needing time to jell, especially with the rookies. Plus, I think our rookies are just as good if not better than Blair and Hill. The numbers point in their favor. Also, the Hornets will have a lottery pick this season and the Spurs will lose Manu and have Duncan get even older while CP3 is just 24. The big difference between the team seems to be coaching. Popp is proven to be superior than Byron Scott or Jim Flower.

The Hornets are not and have not been close to the level of the Spurs with regards to being a legit le contender.

I don't know why yall keep saying Ginobili is gone? He is more likely to sign with the Spurs than leave. That would be like me saying it is likely CP3 gets traded because you can apply some logic to it.

Spurs are better now and closer to a le. Duncan is aging, but even an aging Duncan is a top 10 player. TP is still pretty young and should recover. Gino looks pretty good. Spurs have young players and the ability to trade. A trade like RJ, but one that fits better, could put the Spurs back in the mix until Duncan retires in 2012.

If nothing works out next year. Spurs will have just Tim under contract with the young guys, and they can rebuild. The front office is very good. They have a great setup for the short term and long term.
