Trevor Ariza Is Back to Doing What He Does Best
    SportingNews

Trevor Ariza came to the Rockets this offseason with big expectations. He was to be one of the key cogs in their role player jamboree, and that meant creating for others, and himself, far more than he’d done as a Laker.

Things didn’t work out quite as planned, but with the arrival of Kevin Martin in Houston, Ariza is back to doing what he does best. From Rahat Huq of Red94:

Ariza has come into his own simply because the presence of Kevin Martin has forced down his usage and forced him back into doing the things that earned him his contract.

Because Martin can handle the ball and create off the dribble, he has now assumed the lion’s share of the complementary ballhandling duties. This has allowed Ariza to slash off of Brooks’/Martin’s penetration, spot up for 3’s, and run the floor. The results have been beautiful.

This point gets at something I mentioned last week, which is that Martin’s presence in the lineup has more clearly defined the roles of everyone in the lineup. Each knows what’s expected in every game now, not assuming that this is the game in which he’s supposed to step up and become the team’s top performer.

Ariza looked on his way to being a free-agent bust earlier this year with a poor shooting percentage and less-than-stellar production across the board. Now it’s clear that he was just thrust into a situation that didn’t best suit his talents.

Wish him the best. Not sure LA could have won the le without him last season.

Well he sucked when he tried to be T-Mac. Yes their stats are similar but Ariza cannot light a candle to T-Mac's basketball instincts and ball handling.

He'll step up his game once the playoffs come around. The Rockets suck, that's right.
