Impressive game by Manu! 43 points (13-25), 6 rebounds, 5 assists, in 35 minutes.
No offense but his 2005 form is overrated relative to his form now. 2007 Ginobili and recent ginobili are better than 2005 ginobili.
He's lost athleticism of course, but his basketball IQ has gone through the roof. He's wily as these days and makes fantastic, optimal plays. Court vision and spacing are elite now. He didn't have this in 2005.

Damn 2005 Manu might be back. He's made up for some lost athleticism with incredible court vision and passing.
If TP comes back healthy and can regain his 2009 form, damn there may be hope yet.

2005 Manu would put up 40 pts performances in no more than 20 shots, and would do it mostly by attacking the rim. 2007/2010 Manu relies a lot more in jump-shooting which is a lower % shot. He's still awsome but the 2005 version was better IMO.

Well, this is true and if you were looking at points scored "efficiency" then yes I would agree, but being an overall player is more about how efficiently you can score points.
Ginobili's assist ability has gone way up compared to 2005 which is humongous.
It's probably a wash. I just don't think 2005 ginobili is clearly better than 2007 or 2010 gino. You give up some offensive efficiency, but you gain greater assist capability, court vision, and spacing.

Yes, he did. The thing is that it wasn't so noticeable because he didn't dominate the ball so much back then so his assists numbers never made justice to his passing abilities.
Manu isn't the same player he was 5 years ago (although he's still obviously pretty damn good), the reason he seems like a better player right now is 'cause he has more chances to show just how good he has always been.
