Presumably, the Spurs only include division les on a banner when they win the championship that year as well. For instance, I'm certain that if I walked into the AT&T Center tomorrow, I would not see "2008-2009"--you know, a season in which the Spurs were summarily dismissed in the first round--listed on a division champions banner.
And LOL at people seriously responding to this thread with a straight face with like "Ask a championship player or team if division les matter."

Never. If that happens I will be an eastern conference fan. Lakers vs Mavs in the WCF is a nightmare scenario.
I only said I'd be rooting for the Mavs in the WCF, because I hate the Lakers so much more than the Mavs. I'll be rooting for the East team (likely Cavs or Magic) in the Finals, though, if the Spurs aren't in it.
