Rider said they had a "tug of war" in which his fiancé "lost" before she fell to the ground.
According to Mesa police, he was involved in three separate police incidents in five days and was taken into custody Thursday after an officer spotted him driving erratically in a black Escalade with three small children in the back.
When she got into her vehicle, Rider opened her door, pulled her out and threw her to the ground before running away with her purse, police said.
The woman said she then ran after him, while yelling for help. Witnesses said the man then stopped, gave back the purse, and continued to run away.
Rider said they had a "tug of war" in which his fiancé "lost" before she fell to the ground.
When they arrived at Rider's apartment complex, he told the driver he had to run inside and get his wallet to pay the $150 fare and then ran through the apartment complex and never came back.
When an officer attempted to pull him over, Rider drove into a nearby neighborhood, jumped out of the SUV and began to run, police said.
What an incredible waste of talent.
