Sounds about right. For HS players it may lbe longer though. KG, Kobe and Tracy got drafted when they were what 18-19 y/o? I would say most of them reached their primes around 27-28 y/o.
I'd say about 5-6 years.
That seems to be when they're at the point where their skills have developed about as much as they will, and they are still near their peak athletically.

Kobe and Tracy's peak was both around 2003 imo. I don't remember when KG was drafted, but I think it was around the same time and his prime was around 03 or 04 as well.
That would put all of them in the 5-6 year range.
Duncan in 2003 I think had been in the league for around 5 years.
Suns need to capitalize on Amare then... Assuming he stays...
KObe's prime is most definitely his 2006 form. The year he averaged 35 per contest and followed that by 32 ppg the next year and then winning the MVP in 2008. Thats actually Kobe's 10th, 11th and 12th year.
KG's prime season not surprisingly was in 2005, also his 10th season. IN terms of athleticism, improved fundamentals and smarts IMO their primes were around those years, not in that 5th=6th year range.
Tracy's best season was his 5th year, but I think if he never had a chronic injury its safe to say he'll probably have an MVP season too. Yes better than his 32.1, 6.6 and 5.5 career year.
He'll never be this good on defense, but offensively, I'm hoping Amare is a lot like Hakeem and hits his prime a few years from now once his post game is a lot more refined as is his ability to pass out of the post. Dream set a career high in PPG in his 9th NBA season, broke that in his 10th season, and set a new high for the 3rd time in his 11th season. Chances are Amare doesn't have the basketball IQ to develop undefendable post moves or pass out of the post like Hakeem did, but he's only begun to scratch the surface of how good his post game can be.
Durant's gonna be a monster then.
Yeah, if you think about it, Durant only has a few glitches in his game.
Tim Duncan actually started off already in his prime lol. his numbers werent QUITE as huge his first couple years cause he still had a strong d-rob in the paint with him...but its funny his first 2 seasons he was as unstoppable on either end as anyones ever been, then he got hurt and forever lost his athleticism, but was still good enough to put up his best numbers ever around the end of d-robs career/retirement, then after 2005 declined slightly, then around 2008 fell a bit more to his current still good but not dominant state.
25 is almost always the athletic prime. prime is 26-29. usually. players outta high school get more wear and tear, and then they either peak earlier or get injured and dont finish their careers(see mcgreedy, tracy and garnett, kevin). like lebron will never get better than he is now.
