Cop in Roethlisberger case resigns
ATLANTA -- The Georgia police officer who took the first report from the woman who accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault has resigned.
Milledgeville police Chief Woodrow Blue on Friday confirmed that Sgt. Jerry Blash resigned Wednesday, a day before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation made public all do ents related to its investigation of a 20-year-old woman's claim that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her.
Prosecutors announced earlier this week that they are not charging Roethlisberger in the March 5 incident. Blash is the only officer who interviewed the quarterback. He acknowledged in an interview with investigators that he made some derogatory comments about the accuser to other officers.
Multiple calls to a phone number listed for Blash went unanswered.
A little more than a week after the alleged assault was reported, photos surfaced online of Roethlisberger smiling alongside Blash. Blue said the photos were taken hours before the allegation was made.
Blue said on March 12 that beyond filing the report, Blash was not involved in the investigation.
Also revealed in the GBI reports released Thursday was the fact investigators wanted to talk with a woman about a separate incident reportedly involving Roethlisberger.
The do ents show that after the alleged assault in Milledgeville, a 16-year-old in a youth law enforcement program told authorities he knew about incidents involving Roethlisberger and a friend's sister.
Authorities repeatedly sought to interview the woman, who is in her early 20s, but she declined. The teen had said he believed the two-time Super Bowl winner twice made unwanted sexual advances toward the woman.
A message seeking comment about the possible earlier incidents was left with his lawyer. In the meantime, the fallout continues to affect the Steelers, this time in the pocketbook. The behavior of Roethlisberger and former Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes might result in a fine by the NFL of as much as $200,000.
Holmes, traded Sunday to the New York Jets, is suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and has been involved in a number of incidents that put him in a bad light.

Something about this whole story is fishy as . There needs to be a new investigation about bribery or something Roethlisberger did to keep this down. It doesn't seem right at all, why are reports like this and his bodyguard dragging a girl into a bathroom coming out after the charges were dropped. If he bribed or did anything to hinder the investigation he should be suspended for a year at the minimum. Time to see if Goodell's player conduct policy is really impartial to race. God knows if Pacman Jones were involved in this mess it'd be a lifetime ban.

OK, so that's 3 women in the last year Rapelisberger allegedly sexually assaulted. Pacman Jones received a year long suspension for allegedly doing a bunch of childish bull , but was also never charged with a crime, and never was accused of anything like this on multiple occasions. If Roethlisberger doesn't receive a year long suspension it'll be because he's a white QB the NFL doesn't want to destroy because they're embarrassed about having their refs hand a rapist two superbowls.

Ben is just a stupid POS to jeopardize his career chasing second-rate tail. At this point I don't mind if he gets suspended for 3-4 games if it brings him back to reality.
I also think (hope) that Steelers management would have made it crystal clear to him this time that they'd trade his ass if he has one more such incident.

I was a Ben defender when this started, but the information about this incident just makes it hard to fathom how one man with the world at his finger tips could be so ing stupid.

You shouldn't need to be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to be suspended in the NFL. Probable cause should be enough to get Roethlisberger suspended for a year.
I'm not a big fan of this commish... he lays down the hammer when it's convenient.
