Better job of 3 pt defense in that quarter. Big three playing well. Still gotta clean up turnovers, dumb fouls, rebounding. I like our defense in the half court for the most part. Dirk can't make all those shots the whole game, can he?
Hill, Bonner, Jefferson M.I.A. We need one of them at least to give us 10 points in this half to win.
Agree, throwing everything at Dirk defensively last year didnt work and they had less weapons then...
Let Dirk go off on us...other players will get cold...
Hill and RJ need to find a way to contribute.
jefferson looks like a deer in the headlights out there which surprises me. you'd think a veteran like that could take the pressure.
all jefferson has done is either defer, or shoot some last second garbage play shot (not always his fault)
+1 Rings or no rings, Dirk is an elite player, folks. The Mavs are a .500 team at best without him.
You can't body up with dirk or he'll drop like he was shot...you can't elevate with him or he'll kick out his legs and get the call...
He's cornered the market on phantom foul calls.
That was the definition of a bull call. Dirk contorts his body and flops like a vagina while shooting that fadeaway jumper, and Mason just stands there with his hands straight up in the air. He neither moved his feet nor his upper body, and Bennett still blows the whistle.
With this kind of refereeing, any decent jumpshooter could own the best defensive teams. Unfortunately these calls only happen when the Mavs play the Spurs.
At least the Spurs are close. That is all you can ask for at this point. They have to rebound and take care of the ball. They also need to keep them off the line somehow.

If the Spurs just take care of the ball, we'd be up 5. Instead we're down 5. Not that bad.
Mason's hands weren't straight up...it was a good call that I'd want Tim getting.

If the refs are going to be whistle happy we need to make these fouls count and stop the three point plays.

I'm fine with the 1st half..
Spurs were sloppy as ..as for shooting, the Spurs got whatever they wanted..too many unforced and stupid turnovers..the big 3 carried the team from a shooting standpoint, but they all had some horrible turnovers..hopefully they clean it up..
Hill and/or RJ absolutely MUST show up in the 2nd half..
Also, the Spurs are going to need one of Bonner, Mason or Bogans to make some outside shots..one of these guys has to do something..
I don't mind the double teaming of Butler to get him out of rhythm..he really looked like he had no idea how to handle a double..hopefully that got him out of rhythm..
The careless turnovers have to get tightened up going into the 4th. I like the pace of the game so far.

Exactly. Butler has 13 and Haywood and 10 and 4 boards. If Terry had make a few of those open jumpers the lead would be double digits.
