He seems like a decent guy. It was an unfunny and unfortunate attempt at ironic humor that probably got blown a bit out of proportion but I can't blame any of the parties involved. I think a suspension would have been appropriate enough.

It was, until CNN ran the story.

Well that's another issue altogether. Not sure why CNN is reporting on Twitter comments by a dude with 1.7K followers but they are the Social Networking News Network of record.

Norm Hitzges, the show upon which Bacsik worked, mentioned the firing this morning, off the top. He indicated that, while they understand the station's decision, the act itself IS NOT who Mike Bacsik is. Uh, I beg to differ. Unless it can be proven that his Twitter account was hacked, then it was Bacsik's choice to go racial with his anti-Spur, anti-ethnic rant.

As I said earlier, alcohol can be considered truth serum. If you're generally a mean-spirited type, then alcohol can turn you into a mean-spirited drunk. Bacsik's feelings and comments are his and his alone. The alcohol consumption apparently allowed them to surface. He made his bed, now he's got to sleep in it. He now has to endure the embarassment that his comments have caused him and his family.

Besides, we have 3 sports talk stations in the metroplex. After this blows over, I'm sure he'll land somewhere else.

This is weak sauce compared to what I've heard on this station. All races and cultures are made fun of on the morning show and afternoon shows.

Of course those are made with the intent to laugh, this however, was not.

I lived in Dallas until recently and listened to the Ticket on occassion. The morning show was mildly funny, usually when they did their impersonations of Jerry Jones and other Dallasites. Of course, they didn't know jack about sports and they didn't spend much time talking about sports either.

As for the afternoon show, it was so lame I turned it off. They certainly tried to be funny, but they weren't. They also didn't know jack about sports, so I couldn't waste my time.

Local sports is the only thing they specialize in. Even then, they put this at the number 2 spot on their agenda.

Life, pop culture, comedy etc take first place. ESPN has national sports by the balls. We don't need Yankees, Red Sox, or Giants stats 24/7...we don't need another ESPN, that's what makes this station so popular.

Right. But the five o clock show wasn't funny and their knowledge even about local teams was lacking. I could handle the morning show sometimes, but the five o clock show was garbage. At least to me. I prefered ESPN radio at that time slot.

Blah, blah, blah...it was taken out of context. Basically, "we're" allowed to do this stuff all the time, it's typical for the station, but Bacsik's quote was taken out of context. Those on the "outside" don't understand. Drops are usually cut up to make the original speaker sound silly and awkward. Just your typical, soapbox, hypocritical horse from Gordon.

In what "context", Gordon, is someone saying Dirty Mexicans or truck full of Mexicans acceptable? They know damn good and well what they're doing and it's shameful that they're leaving Bacsik hanging out to dry, alone. Obviously, what he did was wrong, but it's taken 3 days for them to finally nut up and address this and now they're just spewing bull . And why is Gordon speaking up on this? Since when is he the mouthpiece for the station?

This might just be me, but if there are a truck full of Mexicans driving by, you should be able to say "Hey look at that truck full of mexicans driving by!"

Also, in the context of this series, Eduardo Najera has been a dirty mexican.

People are too freakin' sensitive. But in Mike B's case, he fvcked up big time and the punishment he got is what he got.

This might be just me, but if you think commenting on a truck full of Mexicans and calling a city a bunch of dirty Mexicans is the same thing then I should be able to call you a ing idiot.

    You're a ing idiot.

You can say whatever you want or have whatever opinion you want. However the radio station is a business and if they determine that this guy could hurt their bottom line or effect's their image, which could effect their bottom line, then they have every right to fire this guy. It's no different than the sponsors getting rid of Tiger Woods because of his adultery. Or countless other athletes with their legal troubles.

This part "People are too freakin' sensitive. But in Mike B's case, he fvcked up big time and the punishment he got is what he got"

It sounded like you don't agree with the decision or understand why it was dealt. You stated it as fact what he got, and didn't attach any of your own opinion, however you began as "people are too sensitive", which implies you don't agree with the outcome.

Made sense to me. I think it's still a hot button issue, though, so anybody seen even REMOTELY going to bat for the guy is bound to get their (hood-covered) head bitten off.

The part that didn't make sense was equating what he did with some non existing offense at a truck full of Mexicans being called a truck full of Mexicans. Since when is that really an issue? If you think he ed up then whey come into this thread and talk about people being too sensitive. It doesn't make any sense unless you feel that this was a case of people overreacting.

I don't remember the last time someone got fired for saying a truck full of Mexicans was a truck full of Mexicans so maybe you can refresh all of our memories.

Its not that people are too sensitive, its that we have too many idiots like this asshole running around.
