Since 2005, the team to beat the Mavs in the playoffs have suffered humiliating, crushing defeats in the next round. As the Heat proved, the curse actually carries over into the next year if there are no more rounds to play.

05: Suns beat Mavs in semis, get pounded by Spurs 4-1 in WCF

06: Heat embarrass Mavs in finals, get swept out of first round by Bulls in 07

07: GS crushes Mavs in first round, get curbstomped by Jazz 4-1 in semis

08: Hornets destroy Mavs in first round, lose a 2-0 lead to Spurs in semis and even a 4th quarter rally by their best player Pargo isnt enough to take it on their homecourt in game 7

09: Thuggets humiliate Mavs in semis, only to be blown out on their homecourt in elimination game in WCF

2010: We all know what happened

    Pretty amazing.

It's not so much a curse as it is just proof that the Mavericks are weak and anyone can take them out.

2004: Kings lose to the Wolves after beating the Mavs. Last time a team beat their next opponent after the Mavs is the Spurs over the Nets in 2003.

And the team to beat the Mavs has not only lost the next round the past 6 years, they have suffered horrible fates the season after that.

2004: Wolves miss playoffs following 6 seasons

2005: Suns lose Amare Stoudemire for the entire season in 06, get Donaghy'd in 07, get Snaq'd in 08 and 09, losing in first round and missing playoffs in both years

2006: After being swept by Bulls, Heat win 15 games the season after that and have not gotten out of first round of the playoffs since then

2007: After getting demolished by Utah, GS misses playoffs in every season since then

2008: After getting beat by SA, the Hornets become 121-63 and miss playoffs this year

2009: After being annihilated by Lakers, the Thuggets become first round fodder for a depleted Jazz team. The curse even gave George Karl cancer, it is a HEARTLESS BEAST that does not give a

2010: After getting swept by Suns, the Spurs....?

Who knows what kind of ty fate awaits the SA Spurs after this season. Rick Carlisle may have doomed both franchises by not playing Roddy Baeuxbwoas.

I can't believe there are still those who deny this curse and its power. It is real. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Dirk must be a vampire or something.

Mhmmm... if you just look at the teams from 2006 on, none has won another single playoff series since!

    Miami
    Golden State
    New Orleans
    Denver
    San Antonio

What does that mean......... I think everbody wants to see Lakers-Mavs next year, right!?

It's almost as strong as the Coach-of-the-Year-Curse.

This just confirms something I've said for a while now... some teams just hit lucky shots and catch abnormal breaks against the Mavs.

Miami- lopsided officiating, Paytons luck shot in Game 3. Crawford (Mavs killer) refs 2 games, etc. Salvatore literally changing the pages of NBA history with his whistle.

Golden State- Baron Davis halfcourt . Jackson going ape from the arc, etc
NOLA- Pargo/Peja/Chandler/West playing like competent basketball players. J-Ho shooting a bizarre 29%. Avery with a WEIRD decision to insert JJ Barea into Game 4 for his first real minutes since garbage time against the Knicks in march.
Denver- really the only case of the Mavs getting somewat outclassed. Even then, Crawford refs game 1 and "Wrightgate" in Game 3
SPurs- McDyess allowed to play NFL caliber defense, Crawford reffing Game 3. Hill hitting luck shots. Dirk's 4th quarter charge call on Bonner that shouldve been a block. huge momentum swing.

    These Mavs are just unlucky.

Too bad the Spurs in 2003 debunk this entire thing.

could be because the style of a Nowitzki-led team is just so different, that after a 5-7 game series of it, you just can't adjust back to other normal NBA teams in time...
