Amare doesn't wanna play with Lebron, Bosh wants to be a #1 option, and Wade sure as doesn't wanna be his perimeter sidekick. There's no way he's getting another max FA
So he goes to Chicago and starts another Bulls Dynasty with Rose and Noah.

That advantage means nothing if they can't get him to agree to an extension. And if he decides to leave, he will ask for a S'n'T to get that extra year.

Your whole premise is that the Cavs will cut their nose to spite their face in the event that LeBron decides to bolt...and it is far better to do nothing in order to "appease" fans that already know full well that if LeBron leaves, it will be his choice and the Cavs can't stop him.

I get what you're trying to say, that you think Cleveland fans would hold the Cavs management responsible for his exit, but that's not the reality. They know full well LeBron has the leverage to get whatever he wants.

Is Lebron not less likely to leave if he knows he's not getting the extra year?

7 point ecstasy is less than 5 cents on the dollar
at this being your argument. "That promising young rookie only averaged 7 points a game on 12 mpg!"

I'm saying Cleveland fans will lose interest once Lebron leaves and 7 point ecstasy isn't gonna change that. Maybe you disagree, but I think the Cavs know they're up 's creek without a paddle if Lebron leaves so they're gonna do whatever they can to prevent it from happening.

Wow. I read most of these post and they are GARBAGE! I feel sorry for DOK, he's putting logic on why Dallas won't get Lebron, but it seems like he gets trolled by some mav fans or something. Dang, this is what a first round exit could do to the Mavericks. It's just almost impossible to bring in Lebron because of the points DSF pointed out and even if draft picks were involved, why would Cleveland want some late round draft picks. Dallas is still going to do well in the regular season.

BTW, cuppycake gumdrop? that's one of the worst trolls i have ever seen.

What's an extra year to LeBron really? Twenty million? Like that matters with his endorsement money? Is twenty million gonna keep him around in a situation that is not his first choice?

My guess is the same reason they want 7 point ecstasy. Anything that comes from Dallas turns to gold!

DOK's "logic" consists of the Cavs doing nothing instead of salvaging a bad situation. The most likely scenario is he resigns with the Cavs or goes to NY or Chicago. Dark-horse scenarios involve Miami, New Jersey and Dallas.

If LeBron wants to join the Mavs, then he will, and the Cavs don't have the leverage to really say otherwise. They will not let him walk to an in-conference rival and be stuck with the contracts of Jamison, Varajao, Mo and Gibson, when they can improve their situation for 2011 and rid themselves of Jamison by trading him to Dallas.

The Cavs have the leverage, the argument is over whether or not they'll use it. You can't deny the fact Cleveland has leverage in the situation.

That can be said of many teams in the West, what makes the mavs any different? Even if he has a no trade clause, why in the would he want to go to the Mavericks? That team is older than the Spurs. Lets say we bring this logic that Cleveland trades to a western conference team. Why not trade with Portland? OKC? , even clippers have a better chance. They have some kind of future.

How DoK fails to see this is embarrassing. Not saying Lebron will want to come to Dallas, but if he does, he can.

Because they're the team that resides where Findog and Mono live. That's why this is even an argument.

Portlands an interesting idea. Not sure if they have an expiring the size of the Dust chip though. OKC has its own young mega star. Durant is probably top 3 in the league and plays the same position. Don't think he would want to share that. lol Clippers

Dallas has a great team for the now. If Lebron came here he would basically be guaranteed a ring. Not a great team for the future though, and thats what might scare him off. But, an owner like Cuban can continue to find pieces to put around him. Another thing is that Dallas is a big market. Not NY big, buts its a of a lot bigger than OKC and Portland.

What? Damp's contract is partially guaranteed. If CLE trades for him, they waive him and pay him a portion of his contract I thought.

They pay him nothing. Mike Fisher has been jerking off to this for a solid year.

Dampier's unique contract. If another West team had a contract like that, and LeBron wanted to play for them, it would put them in the mix.

Even if he has a no trade clause, why in the would he want to go to the Mavericks?
Outside of Chicago, they have the best roster for him to join up with. They have an owner financially committed to paying the luxury tax if necessary. They'll play 8-10 home games a year at Cowboys Stadium. It's a top five media market. That's the sales pitch.

Lets say we bring this logic that Cleveland trades to a western conference team. Why not trade with Portland? OKC?
If LeBron wants to play for the Blazers or Zombie Sonics, then he will. I'm sure the Cavs would take back a package centered around Brandon Roy, or the Zombie's collection of young players and picks...if the alternative was him walking to an East team for nothing. But what Dallas offers that those two places don't is a big media market and nightlife. All things being equal, the most attractive FA destinations are New York, Chicago, LA, Orlando, Phoenix, Houston and Dallas. Those are all big markets with lots of nightlife, and outside of Chicago and NY, they are also warm-weather cities. I think Dallas is about fourth on LeBron's list, but I highly doubt that Portland or the Zombies are on that list at all.

, even clippers have a better chance. They have some kind of future.
No, they don't. They're the Clippers. They have a lot of talent, but a terrible ownership situation. LeBron is not signing with a team owned by Donald Sterling.
