It's hindsight, but, he should have been given off after the Utah series ended thru until tonite's game. But, that is water under the bridge.
Well my theory has always been let Kobe have a huge 1st quarter so his teammates start to check out mentally and stop looking for their shot on offense. IMO, against LA, a lot of the game depends on the 1st quarter. If you can get Bynum, Artest and Odom to go into auto-pilot it's usually hard for them to get their intensity level back up.

Remember, blazer sites are often offline as thier mods attend their parades.
I really hope that happens. LA's pick and roll D fell apart tonight because there was no Bynum congesting the paint.
i wonder if they use that zone again. they are basically saying "shoot open 3's. " thats the strategy , hope they miss. also i wonder how the refs will call amare and his drives. ed rush is horrific for the lakers.
if Gentry had done this is the first quarter, this game would have been a blow out ..... Lakers just couldn't knock down open threes ...... and they were not allowed to get in the paint.
time for Phil to earn that 12 million
Phil had to know the zone was coming. To not have a strategy for it on the fly tonite is inexcusable.
speaking of parades, if the Suns win the West, are they gonna throw them another parade if Boston taps that ass like they did against Chicago ......
Lakers have ALWAYS struggled against the zone. They toss it around the perimiter unil the clock hits 5 then throw up the obligatory desperation 3. Simply put Pau at the high post and the zone would be toast. He cannot play low block when a tema is zoning.
That turnover by Kobe when he mishandled the ball which led to the J-rich three, to me, was the turning point of the game.

This is the one I frequent. It doesn't get the most traffic, but there are some hard-core Blazer fans there.
touchee! Once Amare got past Pau, as he did many times in games 1 & 2 he still had to deal with Drews length. A little different when it artest or brown standing there.
yeah, definitely agree with that point ..... when they go up against the Lakers one on one, they can't match up, but this zone is really bothering the Lakers
damn @ Nash with the broken nose .......
Nash AKA Glass Joe
It was the back breaker, yes, but, the turning point was Phil's failure to counter the zone. He'd been warned repeatedly it was coming.
I'll drop by and check out the scene ....... Kobe just missed the triple dub.
Lakers will win, but for tonight you Lakers and Laker fan es!
Yup exactly. Also without Bynum LA doesn't have much of a height advantage at all. Gasol and Odom aren't any taller than Amare and Lopez.
You still got skunked by the Suns, sweetheart.
ha, ha.
That is why I am rooting for the Suns. It won't hurt as bad if they make it to the Finals. I will almost always root for the team that eliminates my team.![]()
I've never understood that process, but, knock yourself out.
It's not like it's rocket science. Beating the zone is simple. You put a big in the high post (Pau) and get him the ball early in the clock. It's that simple. Thye would tear it apart. Passing the ball around the perimiter for 20 seconds is idiotic.
send that to Phil ...... they just went braindead
That's a losers mentality right there. If they go to the finals that means we got like a better 5th place finish.![]()
I'll call him later tonight.![]()
tell Phil to bench Bynum for game 4, I want a 2-2 series so I can get some false hope for a few days.
